As she ran, there was only one place she thought of, that she knew no one would find her in. The Forbidden Forest. It was the last place anyone would look for her, so she quickly settled on that.
The forest was a bit far, but the adrenaline boost was enough to get her there. She crossed the police tape, as she went further.
She thought about settling down in the cave where she found the crystal, but she figured that this place was probably being guarded by the missing cookie she saw the first time she entered the forest. Instead, she decided to search for a brand new cave.
She slowed down, when she got far away from the edge of the forest. As the situation got less threatening, she began feel immense exhaustion along with hunger. She started licking her breakfast off of her clothes, barely being able to keep herself on her feet. It did not help that the crystal was awfully heavy, making her drag her bag on the ground. Her vision was blurry from the lack of sleep.
It didn't take long for the rest of her energy to disappear completely. She fell on her knees, breathing heavily. She opened her bag to check on the crystal. It seemed to glow even brighter. She grinned at it. Finally, she was all alone with her precious gem.
At least, that's what she thought before she heard something moving in front of her. She looked up to see a hostile-looking cookie. Another one of the missing cookies. They looked like a complete mess. Not really different from her.
They kept looking at her bag, as if they recognized the warm, red glow. Alchemist Cookie instinctively dragged the bag closer to her, which caused the creature to charge at her.
She got up but before she got to run away, they snatched her bag away from her and ran off. She immediately ran after them in the opposite direction of where she was going. The missing cookie took out the crystal from the bag. Not needing it anymore, they threw the bag away and ran only with the gem. It seemed like they taught themselves to ignore the burning pain aswell.
They ran through the forest with Alchemist chasing after them. It wasn't long until they both reached the edge of the forest. Alchemist Cookie could see two cookies near it. Vampire Cookie and Almond Cookie, talking to each other. She thought that the missing cookie would run in a different direction, but to her surprised, they crashed right into Vampire. Alchemist stopped right by the edge, watching the scene.
Almond Cookie instinctively took out his handcuffs and tackled the cookie onto the ground. As they dropped the gem, the creature screeched. Alchemist Cookie had to cover her ears from how loud it was.
The gem rolled down right to her feet. She looked at it then up. She saw that Vampire Cookie was staring at her with wide eyes, meanwhile Almond Cookie was still busy with the missing cookie. Alchemist quickly picked up the crystal and turned back into the forest. She could hear Vampire Cookie screaming her name and running after her. She just hoped that she was able to outrun him.
Going deeper into the forest, her vision started getting blurry. It seemed that this time, the adrenaline boost wasn't enough. She ran as fast as she possibly could. Just to loose him.
Vampire was never a runner. He always preferred laying around and doing nothing all day. She could outrun him, she just needed more energy. She closed her eyes shut and tried focusing on gathering strength.
That was, until she tripped and fell down. She opened her eyes. She couldn't hear anything. Only a loud, high-pitched, constant noise. Her vision was blurry but she could still recognize the crystal, laying on the ground. That was the last image she was, before her world turned into darkness.
