𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒊𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 were in the Stark Tower's garage where Tony kept his car collection. They were both working on the engine of Charlie's Cadillac, the hood of the car up. Only the clinks of metal from their tools disrupted the deafening silence as neither of them had spoken a word since they got here and it made Charlie anxious. She wanted to tell her father but in the meantime she feared his reaction.

She finally found the courage to speak but they both did at the same time.

"I was thinking that I could-"

"Pepper and I-"

"Oh, sorry," Charlie chuckled awkwardly, tucking her dark locks of hair that had fallen on her face with the back of her greasy hands. "You were saying?"

"No, no. Go on," Tony encouraged her.

She pulled the monkey wrench she was holding down and took a deep breath. She wanted to talk about this for a week now, but never found the courage to do it. Or maybe that had everything to do with the fact that she barely left her room. Today was the first time she ever left the penthouse since she got here. That was to say, probably a month? But she had never set a foot outside the Stark Tower. It was still too scary.

Bruce had been taking care of the company and was handling it like a boss, but she missed it. She missed her work. She missed her people. But leaving the penthouse was far beyond her strength at the moment. So she spent her days on her computer in her room, trying as hard as she could to take her mind off what happened.

Her heart hammered against her ribcage, anxiousness starting to get the upper hand on her. Her father was staring at her expectantly, encouraging her to jump in with both feet.

"I was thinking that I could... Ugh. Never mind," Charlie shook her head. "It's stupid."

Tony put down his tool and wiped his grease-stained hands with a cloth. "You know you can tell me everything, right?"

A corner of her lips curled up and indeed, she knew she could tell her father everything. He could be carefree and self-absorbed, even a little moody sometimes, but when it came to his daughter, Tony was always loving and caring. Without prejudice, just someone who she could talk to without feeling judged, an ear who listened to her, a shoulder on which she could cry when needed.

She took her courage in both hands and released a deep breath.

"I was thinking about selling the townhouse and leaving New York City," Charlie finally said. "It reminds me too much of..." There was no need to tell his name. She was talking about James and her father knew it. Funny how she had spent years living there with her ex Steve and it was James who made her consider moving out. "I thought about going back to LA? I don't know. Maybe Florida? Or-"

"You still love him," Tony calmly interrupted her.

Still.

You still love him.
