I'm sorry—are you okay?" I said quickly, catching the girl I had just bumped into before she could fall properly.

"Gosh, this is all Logan's fault," I muttered under my breath.

When I looked up, my thoughts just stopped.

She was staring at me.

Wide eyes. Completely frozen.

And that was when it hit me properly.

We looked too similar.

Not "oh she kinda looks like me" similar.

More like someone copied the same face and just changed small details.

And her eyes—grey.

So she already knew. Of course she did.

I froze too.

"Mab! Are you okay?!" voices called from behind her.

Footsteps. Fast.

Her family.

Perfect timing.

I tried to move my hand away from her, but she didn't let go.

Her grip tightened on my arm instead.

Hard.

I winced slightly. "Uh—"

Before I could even process it, more people were in front of us.

A tall guy stepped forward first, grabbing her shoulders.

"Hey—watch where you're going," he said sharply, eyes snapping to me.

Then he looked at her.

Then at me again.

And froze.

Yeah.

That reaction again.

Another one of her brothers stepped in quickly, trying to calm things down. "Hunter, relax—"

"It's fine," someone else said, but even he sounded off.

The air got heavier way too fast for something as simple as a bump.

Then Logan appeared.

Of course he did.

Because of course he was here when everything went wrong.

He stepped in between us instantly, like he already knew where this was going.

"What happened?" he asked calmly, but his tone had that edge I recognized.

Nothing good comes after that tone.

Before I could even answer, the guy—Hunter—was still staring at me like I had committed a crime.

"Who is she?" he asked.

Logan didn't answer directly.

That made it worse.

I felt my chest tighten.

Logan gently but firmly pulled my arm out of Mabel's grip.

Only then did I realize she had been holding on like she was afraid I'd disappear.

I took a small step back.

"Mabel," someone said softly from behind them, trying to calm the situation. "Let go."

But she didn't move at first.

She was still looking at me.

Not angry.
