"Oh my god! You might be Logan Vesper, right?!"
Blake's voice filled the room the moment the door opened.
Every head turned at once.
"Come in, come in, dear!" she added warmly, practically pulling him inside.
I immediately stood up.
But before I could take a step, Hunter grabbed my wrist and pulled me back down onto the sofa.
I turned to glare at him.
He didn't even look at me.
I swear I heard Mabel giggle beside me.
"...Did she just laugh?" I muttered.
"Who's he that you're greeting like that?" Hunter asked sharply, eyes already locked on Logan.
Of course.
Jealous already.
Blake blinked at him. "Hunter, we literally talked about him this morning. Odessa didn't mention him?"
"Oh," Hunter said slowly, then narrowed his eyes. "That Logan. The one who had his hands on her waist at the party."
I exhaled through my nose.
Why was that still a topic?
Logan stepped inside calmly, hands in his pockets like nothing in the world could shake him.
"Yes," he said flatly. "Logan Vesper. Advisor and fighter of Night Fox."
No smile.
No sarcasm.
Just him.
Mabel, as usual, was the first to soften the mood.
"Ohhh, hello Logan! It's nice to meet you. We've heard a lot about you from Odessa."
Logan glanced at her.
"I bet," he replied.
Classic.
Carmen stepped forward, tone colder. "And why are you here, Mr. Vesper?"
Now that sounded more like him.
Logan tilted his head slightly. "Can I not visit CC now?"
A short, dry chuckle followed his own words.
Hunter immediately tensed again.
"I knew it," he muttered.
I stood up this time. "Logan, come on—let's go outside."
But before I could even take a step—
"DON'T CLOSE THE DOOR!"
All of them shouted at once.
Even Elijah.
I paused.
"...Why are you all panicking?" I asked.
No answer.
So I just sighed, grabbed Logan's arm, and walked out anyway.
And closed the door behind me.
Ignoring the chaos immediately starting on the other side.
Outside, Logan let out a short laugh.
"What happened to you in there?" he asked.
"Don't ask," I said immediately.
He looked at me once—then laughed harder.
I groaned and grabbed a pillow from nearby later (don't ask how), throwing it at him when we ended up in my room.
"One against five," I said. "That's not fair."
He caught it easily.
"Are you getting comfortable with them?" he asked, tone lighter—but not fully.
That made me pause.
"...You came here just to ask that?"
He shrugged and lay back on the bed.
I stared at him for a second, then walked over quietly.
And without warning, I climbed on top of him and pressed my hands on his shoulders.
"Are you sulking?" I teased. "Aww. Big scary Logan upset?"
He didn't respond.
Which was suspicious.
I sighed and shifted off him, lying beside him instead.
"...Okay," I said more softly. "Stop acting weird. I'm still me. Cecile. CC. Whatever you want to call it."
He finally turned his head toward me.
"Are you serious?" he asked.
"Yeah," I said. "I'm not disappearing. I don't do that."
A beat passed.
Then I added, quieter, "Odessa is still my family too. That won't change."
He exhaled slowly.
"...We missed you," he said. "Even if it's been barely a day."
I snorted. "Barely a day? I was in Australia for years."
"This is different," he said simply.
I rolled my eyes slightly, but didn't argue.
Instead, I sat up.
"Anyway—how's Odessa?" I asked.
Silence.
I frowned and turned—
Only to find him closer than before.
His hand at the back of my neck.
And then—
he kissed me.
I tried to push him away, reflexively, but he didn't move easily.
Not rough.
Just certain.
When he finally pulled back, I was staring at him.
"...Logan," I said flatly. "I don't like kissing. You know that."
"I know," he said.
Then, quieter:
"But you don't stop me."
That made me pause.
I opened my mouth to argue—
But he kept going.
Not softer.
Not joking.
Just honest.
"I love you, Cecile."
The words hit heavier than anything else in the room.
"I don't even know when it started," he continued. "I just know you became the only thing I pay attention to without trying."
My face immediately went warm.
I reached up and covered his mouth.
"Stop talking," I muttered.
He smiled against my hand.
I looked away fast.
"...Tonight," I said suddenly.
His eyes flickered.
I hesitated.
Then added, quietly:
"Come to my room. After 2 AM. Through the window."
A pause.
"...Are you serious?" he asked.
"No," I said immediately.
Then, after a beat:
"Yes. Just don't make it obvious."
That earned a quiet laugh from him.
"Got it," he said.
And for once—
he actually looked like he was listening.
