David x Reader (Camp Camp)

Happy...Employment?

We head outside while Gwen closes the mess hall up.
I see a few darkened figures in a patch of grass, illuminated by fake candles.
Walking closer, I see the campers sitting down on a big blanket, with the candles around, giving light and glow to the surrounding atmosphere.
"Happy Birthday!" Cheered the campers, ESPECIALLY Nikki.
"Aw... Thanks guys but it's... not my birthday!" I say, not too sure how to respond.
Harrison cheered on, "We know, but we also didn't know what to say for your (quote-on-quote) big entrance, so we decided on that."
"Yeah! Nikki had the idea!" said Space kid.
I look over just to see Nikki's hyper self, bouncing up and down on her knees and smiling wide.
Ered was sitting in between Harrison and Max. "We thought that it would be so cool to give you some sort of welcome party to the camp. Don't think of doing anything illegal though, my dads are here."
I turn to see them both with their ear pieces in. I fake laugh, a little worried I might accidentally make the wrong move whenever.
"Don't look too far into me being here... I still don't really like you." Says Max.
As soon as I cannot manage to think of any words, David comes to my side. Suddenly, I have something to tell them all.
"Thank you kids, this is really special for me." I say, sniffling a little bit.
We all pass around slightly expired cupcakes and talk all together.
About twenty minutes later Gwen walks back out "Okay, all you brats go back to your tents, parties over."
While everyone walks back, including Gwen, we are alone again. I lay back, the sky was dark but a million stars were visible tonight. We lay together, in each others arms, and watch as shooting stars fly and the stars glow. I lean closer to David, "Thank you... so much".
"I'd recreate this moment a million times again, just to see you this happy!" He chuckles.
We lay there for hours, just enjoying our own company. Instead of going back to our cabin, we turn off the candles and sleep together on the ground. Laying down and using each other for warmth, all I here David say is-
"I love...

camping."

I laugh to myself.

"I love...

you, David." I reply, blushing heavily but with the darkness of the night he couldn't see it.

...

"What?"
