Pov: Y/nA few hours passed until I woke up again, the afternoon sun shining on Jenna with the most perfect light. She was really pale, but the sun made it seem like that wasn't the case. I admired the sleeping beauty for a few minutes before remembering I wanted to text Emma earlier before falling asleep.
Y/n:
Hey Emma, Jenna woke up earlier. She was in a lot of pain, but now she's resting so I hope she will feel better after that. Could you maybe go to her place and get some stuff for her? I think her phone should still be there, some clothes and her toothbrush, you know - just everything you see that she might need. Let me know if you have time, if not, I'll go there myself while she's still asleepEmma:
Oh, I'm so glad to hear she woke up! And of course I can, I'll be there in 30! :)Emma was true to her words and arrived a half hour later. "Hey," I whisper when I see her head peeking through the slightly opened door. She walks in and sits down on the chair that's on the opposite side of the bed where I am, the peacefully sleeping Jenna in our middle now. "Found everything?" I say, and she nods before giving me a haul of what she got. "So, I just picked all the most comfortable-looking clothes, her phone and charger, her headphones, and her toothbrush. Oh, and there was a stuffie laying on her bed, so I got that too," she says - taking little pauses in between while pulling whatever she just mentioned out of her bag.
"Thanks, Emma, you're the best," I say. I've heard a lot about Emma from Jenna but had never met her in person until yesterday - and now I totally get why she's so fond of her. Emma brushes my thanks off as if what she did was nothing. "No, Emma, I really mean it. Not only for this," I start and point at the stuff she brought, "but if you hadn't acted as quickly as you did last night, who knows what might have happened. I literally owe you everything. I don't know what I'd do without Jenna." She smiles sadly before saying, "Yeah, me too..."
I see her hand wander closer to Jenna's, but she quickly pulls it back when she notices me watching her. "Oh, no, Emma, you can totally hold her hand. I know how much you guys mean to each other," I declare and mean every word. In fact, before Tim called to make me the job offer, I confided in the thought of Jenna having Emma by her side during the rough eight months on set. After hearing my reassurance (which I found weird saying because Jenna doesn't belong to me and I didn't ever want her friends to pull away from her because of me), she quickly grabs Jenna's hand and seems to relax at the touch.
"Hey, while you're here, I think I'm gonna go out and smoke, but I'll be quick. Is that okay?" you ask her, and she smiles and nods. Before Emma got here, I didn't dare to leave Jenna's side - but with her here, I knew she'd be in good hands if she woke up while I was gone.
So I go outside, gratefully taking in the first breath of fresh air in a while, and light a cigarette. This has been the most awful night of my life - and yes, I was abused for most of my life, but the thought of losing Jenna? Worse. Way worse.
When I go back in, Jenna's eyes immediately meet mine. "Oh hey, you're awake," I say, stating the obvious. I retake my seat and lean into Jenna to give her a quick peck, which makes her smile against my lips. I've never been too comfortable with PDA, and even though I knew Emma wouldn't mind, I still didn't want to overdo it. "Awww, you guys are so cute," she says right when I back off again. Jenna and I both smile at that. I then grab her hand, and it's such a cute scene - Jenna being surrounded by two people who love her and care for her, each of her hands held by one of them.
~
Jenna ended up being in the hospital for eight days. I was allowed to sleep there with her, and she actually made a quick recovery. Her chest tube was removed the day after her surgery, and her bruises got lighter every day. Despite some pain when moving because of her broken ribs, she was her usual happy self the day she got discharged. The week in the hospital felt very nostalgic - it reminded me of the time when the roles were reversed, and she visited me in the hospital after I was rescued.
Except that there was a new addition to everything. Emma came by every single day, and we all would watch movies or take turns reading a book out loud to the other two. It was a comfortable atmosphere, and it didn't feel like Emma was third wheeling either - I enjoyed having her around, and Jenna obviously did too. Sometimes we would all lay in bed (the staff put two beds right next to each other since I was sleeping there - so there was enough space for the three of us), with Jenna lying in the middle while Emma and I laid on either side of her - and we would get... well, let's just say close. While I held Jenna in my arms, Emma would hold Jenna's hand or have her hand laid around her waist. And even though it was strange at first, I quickly realized that it wasn't something bad. Every one of you felt comfortable - and the more affection, the better, right? I didn't feel jealous when I saw Emma touching Jenna or when I would see the way they looked at each other. Because it didn't change the way Jenna looked at me, it only felt like there was additional love to give and receive.
Well, those were my thoughts at first. It was merely the evening of the day Jenna got discharged that I started worrying, as the two of us were lying in bed at my place. Jenna didn't look at me; she didn't engage any sort of contact - which was unusual for the clingy girl. I tried to brush the pit in my stomach off - until I heard the damming words that transformed the pit into a whole ass abyss.
"Y/n, we need to talk."
