Chapter 11

"Mate, I smelt our mate"
That can't be right Trent "freshwater and lilies, I smelt" "but that's not......do you think we have a second chance mate.....here?" I said back to Trent rubbing my hand down my face
"Yes" fuck.
I'm not ready, we aren't ready. What the hell. "We can't avoid them Davis" Trent said, I knew that but a part of me, a huge part of me was scared, was scared that they could be like Paris and....well you know.
I bet our mate thinks we have rejected them, Trent whimpered into my head. "I'm sorry Trent, I just..I just...I can't, I can't do it again" I'm gonna keep out the way, I'm working tomorrow but I finish at 2 as it's Christmas Eve, then the lab is closed until the new year, I know I'm going to have to speak to my mate.

I snuck out my room at around 11pm, grab a snack from the kitchen and then realised people where still in the lounge, I didn't want to go back to my room, so I headed to the gym room, which is soundproof, so I turned up the music, put some heavy metal on and went to town on the punching bag, I was just putting on the 3rd new punching bag, when someone turned the music down, I turned round to see Mika
"So you are the reason I am replacing punching bags so quickly" I turned back to the punching bag "it's the bag or your face" I growled my eyes flashing, he came and held the bag "ok ok, I'm sorry, can we just talk for a minute?" I nodded and walked over to the bench I sat down and started to take my gloves off, Mika sat next to me "I want to apologise, I wasn't thinking, it was....wrong...I get it" I unwrapped the tape round my knuckles, I looked up at him "apology accepted, just don't bring her up again" he nodded "noted". Mika stood up and was swinging his arms around "what else do you want to say Mika?" "Right ok, so....look Davis, I'm new to this....I wasn't ready to be Alpha....I'm not even sure I want to be Alpha" he whispered,
I stood up and grabbed his shoulders and looked right at him "what's the matter, since I have been here, you have been great, from what I can see everyone would agree, what are you worried about" he shrugged "I can't put it into words, I just feel like I'm missing something, I guess what I'm saying is, I don't have, a support system, like Cain is great but he isn't my friend, I feel like he is the Alpha, shouldn't the Alpha and Beta be around the same age and really good friends, I have friends in the pack, well I did then I became Alpha and now they treat me like the Alpha not a friend, my best friend when I was in school and college just upped and left, Cain's kids are too young......I shouldn't even be having this conversation, I shouldn't feel like this, an Alpha shouldn't second guess himself" he sat down with his hands in his hair. I'm at a loss, I really didn't expect this, but then again Mika was in his final year of university when everything happened so he has only been Alpha about 5/6 months and with only the guidance of Cain.
"Mika, i will never be able to understand everything you are going through but I will always be here to help you, so with that being said what do you need me to do, do you want me to shadow Cain so I can learn some of his role so he can spend more time with you, I'm at work for a few hours today but I'm off until the new year. Or if you don't want to do that, you could phone Alpha Jason and ask for is advice, I still phone Payton once a week, wow I have just realised I think Luke has been replaced" I laughed at that, I could tell Mika was thinking very hard then his eyes lite up, "is there anyone that is good enough to take on the Warrior role?" I tilted my head "my role?" "Yes, I like your idea about Cain but that means someone might have to train the group whilst your busy" I nodded "Well no one good enough to lead the whole thing but Rosie and Mia have been helping me train the 10-15 year olds and Mac has been helping me with the 16-18, tho I was thinking of merging that group into the warriors, so they have 2 years of training with the warriors so when they do turn 18 they know what they are in for if they decide to become a warrior" "that's a good idea, I'm happy for you to proceed with that, I think you should train Mac up and get him to shadow you, he has been doing his degree online so he is around a lot of the time" "cool, this was a good talk, so Mika you talk to Cain and I will shadow him for the next 2 weeks, I will get Rosie, Mia and Mac to train the groups without me for the next 2 weeks and then will get feed back from everyone and put a training plan together. I just want to say even tho I'm not part of your pack.......yet, you are a wonderful Alpha and a good friend to me and I hope I'm a good friend to you" Mika looked wide eyed at me "you said Yet" I nodded, then scratched my neck and rolled my eyes at him "umm yeah so.....I might have smelt my second chance mate tonight".
