Second chance for Davis?

Chapter 14

I spent awhile deciding how to go about this chapter and I'm still not sure, so fingers crossed

I quickly and quietly dashed to my room locking the door behind me, finally taking a breath I didn't  know I was holding. I took a shower a very long shower and kept wondering how to go about finding my mate and talking to them. I finally left the shower and got dressed, I hesitated at the door.
"Come on Davis we can do this" Trent said in my head
"Ok" I whispered to myself I started to walk to the kitchen but I could hear so many voices and backed out and headed for the dining room closing the door behind me, I turned on a side light and just sat in a chair, face laying on the table
"Come on Davis, come on" I said as I lightly hit my head on the table.
"You know, that will cause more harm than good" someone said making me look up in shock at the door, there stood my mate, dark brown hair, green eyes, with a button nose and probably standing no more than 5 foot 4. I just stared at her for a few seconds, I wasn't sure what to say but I didn't end up breaking the silence she did.
She closed the door but stayed by the door "I'm sorry for coming to you, Mika said to wait for you to come to me but.......I couldn't.......I'm sorry......I'm Cara.....you know your"
"Yes I know" I said looking at my fingers "what did Mika say to you?"
"Oh he said to be patient and you would come to me and that you have a complicated past" I snorted at that. "I'm sorry I didn't wait but I asked around and no one really knows anything about you and Ruby has been growling at me all day" she went to take a step forward then stopped
"Is it ok to sit next to you?" I wasn't expecting that
"If I said no" "then I would stay by the door, I didn't want to make you uncomfortable Davis"
Her saying my name made Trent purr in happiness "it's fine you can sit with me" she pulled up her chair and sat down turning to face me, she is very pretty.
"So I'm going to tell you about myself" before I said anything off she went "my name is Cara, I'm 20 I'm in my final year at university studying business and accountancy, I'm at the university of Edinburgh, I already have a job waiting for me when I finish, my parents run a manufacturing company for medical equipment and I'm will be going into the finance department.
I have 2 best friends since secondary school, Maria and Toby, they are both at university with me. Ummm my favourite colour is orange, I love monkeys, I prefer movies at home than going out but I do like to dance so I'm always up for clubbing, tho as you guessed we are kinda in the middle of nowhere so no clubs here" I gave her a small laugh and she smiled back at me
"Ummm I don't really have a favourite food, I can't fix anything to save my life and I hate people who lie or deceive others" this made me look at her, I must have pulled a funny face
"Oh did a say something wrong I'm sorry, I will stop talking if you want" I shook my head
"Give me a minute to get my head in gear" I sat there for a few minute's talking to Trent before I turned to Cara
"Your very handsome, your eyes are very beautiful"
"Oh thank you, no one has said that to me before......ok so Mika said that you are trustworthy and that I shouldn't hold this information in and that I should just get it out the way and to be honest I do too whatever the out come...
I moved here because I had a mate before, who my Alpha killed for treason" i stopped and looked at her, her face was full of sadness
"Oh Davis I'm so sorry for your lose" I shook my head "No I'm not sad she is gone, I'm so angry at her, let me explain
Paris was 18, I was a school year younger so only 17, it didn't feel right to me but I felt like I couldn't say anything, we mated anyway, she was always angry, wouldn't let me do anything if she wasn't around, got jealous and mad if anyone who she thought was pretty tried to talk to me even if they where already mated or just cashiers at the shop, I started curling in on myself, I wasn't allowed to go to university because I would be away for her, in the end I was allowed to go but had to go to the local one and travel in each day, which did save me money but I really wanted to go to London, buts it's in the past.
Anyways jump forward and our Alpha Jason finds his mate Payton who turns out to be a Hellhound, oh sorry shouldn't have said that"
"It's ok, thank you for telling me I will keep it a secret, carry on"
"So some how she got in contact with some hunters and made a deal with them that they kill Payton and I'm guessing me, so she could get Jason, basically she was insane and thought that Jason should have been her mate and she used me to....I dunno keep her cover, bide her time or whatever, she said she never really loved me I guess I was a means to an end.....I......she destroyed me and didn't care. A part of me is so fucking scared of this" pointing to me and her
"I'm scared you will be like her.... Part of me knows that you wouldn't be but there's just that voice in my head you know" I looked at her, she had tears in her eyes
"I'm so sorry for what she did to you, I would say I'm nothing like that but instead I'm going to show you, through the rest of our life's that I'm nothing like her, we can start off going on dates if you would like?" I smiled a little "so your not rejecting me?" I said confused I really thought she would dump my arse with this much emotional baggage.  She shook her head "No I'm not rejecting you, we are just gonna take it slow, we are gonna do it the human way, dates, movies, cuddles and work our way to mates". "That sounds.....good...thank you for being patient with me". "It's no problem Davis, it really isn't, is there anything that I should avoid doing....that could....upset you?"
"Wow she really is a Angel sent from heaven" Trent said "that she seems to be"
"Ummmm I dunno to be honest, just don't shout at me, don't come up behind me, most of what she did was verbal abuse, so just talk calmly to me and explain yourself if I did something wrong or your upset" "ok sure I can do that"
"So is she the reason your at Mika's pack?"
"Yes and no, your pack needed a head warrior and Alpha Jason said that unless ours left it was unlikely I would progress any further and as I was no longer tied to the pack because of Paris, I thought a fresh start was a good idea and I also managed to get a 1 year contract job at some labs about 45 minutes drive from here"
"Oh cool, so my mate is the head warrior" she said smirking at me making me blush, then her face changed to confusion "you said 1 year does that mean your leaving, do I have to leave with you, when does your contract end?" "Oh wow errr, contract will end at the end of August, ummm there are some things going on in the pack that I can't discuss with you at the moment but if the contract doesn't get renewed then I will look for a new job."
"I can live with that, but you have to know that I will be going back to uni the first week of January and probably won't be back until my exams are done in May or June, will you be ok with that?" "It's not a choice your education is important and your in your final year, I can always come visit for some long weekends" she was smiling at this and nodded her head, "Davis, what do you want to do about telling the pack, are you ok with us telling people or do you want to keep it a secret because I think I'm going to struggle but I will try my hardest for you"
I picked up her hand and intertwined our fingers " we can tell the pack but I'm more worried they will notice we haven't mated quickly" " that isn't anyone's business and if they do push we can say as we don't know each other and the fact I'm going back to uni we have decided to do the human dating" I smiled at her "that's a good idea" " I know I'm full of them" this made me laugh.
