Chapter 24: A Murderer

-Prior to Ai's awakening-

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

The sound of the heartbeat monitor echoed in the room. There is a figure who has been unconscious for almost three days. Ai Hoshino, the infamous idol in Japan, was being treated after suffering an injury from a deranged fan. She was lying on the hospital bed. Beside her is the man who saved her, Kai Ross.

He was waiting for her to wake up from her slumber, though the doctor said that she had lost a lot of blood as a result of her ruptured abdominal aorta. The percentage of her waking up is low for the time being. Nonetheless, the new actor still stayed by her side, making sure that nothing happened to her.

A knock on the door snapped Kai from his thoughts. He looked at the door as it opened up, revealing the president of Strawberry Production, Saitou, with her wife, Miyako. She was holding a bouquet of lavender flowers. Alongside them were two small kids that resembled Ai Hoshino because of their eyes.

"Mr. Kai!" Ruby went to Kai, hugging both of his legs. He chuckled as he took her and placed her on his legs. The rest entered the room. Aqua, who seemed to be quiet, looked at the monitor.

"Her heartbeat and blood pressure seem to be normal. But I doubt she would wake up so soon." Aqua wondered to himself as Ruby showed Kai the get-well-soon card that she made with Aqua. Kai smiled, saying that her mother would love it.

Ruby looked at her mother with a frown, wondering when she would wake up. She didn't know what happened during the incident. All she knows is that Aqua woke her up and told her to hide until the police came to rescue them.

"How's Ai doing?" Saitou glanced at Ai as Kai answered,

"There is no sign of her waking up; everything else is alright."

The atmosphere inside the room was quiet. Saitou breaks the silence again, telling Kai that the news about Ai already been a hot issue. Kai nodded as he said that he had already watched the news. He told her that the obsessive fan had been captured but had been sent here. Hearing this made Kai's and Aqua's blood boil. Kai put Ruby down as he signalled the president to talk outside.

The president nodded as they went to talk outside the room. Ruby went to Miyako as she patted her. Aqua went to eavesdrop on the two adults conversation.

How did he know about Ai's new address?" Kai started the conversation. Saitou shook his head, telling him that he was still unconscious. Kai understood that he had to wait for the answer, but his heart was in distress.

He wanted to know who was behind this. That person must pay for his actions. Then a question came to his mind.

"Does anyone know about Ai's address other than us?" Saitou answered no. Kai asked again if he knew who Aqua's and Ruby's biological fathers were.

Saitou once again said no; Ai kept it a secret from him. She never told anyone about her ex. So Kai suspected that Ai must have given him the address, but why?

Why the man is trying to kill her?

Kai balled up his fists while gritting his teeth. There was no telling how mad he was.

Aqua, who had been eavesdropping on them, heard about his father. He was already aware that the main suspect was his biological father. He was trying to open up Ai's cellphone using different combinations of numbers, but to no avail. He has already tried everything connected to AI. Her birthday, Ruby's and his birthday. It looks like he will need to start from zero.

The key might be in her phone. The phone she used for work have contacts of people who might be the culprit.

Aqua left his thoughts for now and continued to eavesdrop. He heard about Saitou telling Kai not to do anything stupid. Kai assured Saitou that he would not kill the man. He just wanted to see that man and told Saitou to watch over Ai.
