Have you fallen in love with someone you know who can't reciprocate your feelings? Well, I did. And I fully regret it now.
I just finished defending my client who's been accused of attempted murder by his friends. Turns out, sila pala ang tunay na culprit and f-in-rame up lang ang kliyente ko.
I hate people like that. Pretending to be your friend at first and then betraying you when there is a problem.
For me, they don't deserve to have true friends, because they themselves can't be a good one.
"Congrats, Attorney Salazar!"
I look at the person behind that voice.
I immediately smiled after hugging my friend, Camille. She's been my friend since college days. I'm so grateful for her, because she stayed with me after the things I've been through.
"Cams! What the hell? I thought, you're busy with Mikael?!" I said enthusiastic.
I wasn't expecting her here. Since, she said she's busy with her son. She's a single mom, but I know that wouldn't be the case if her ex boyfriend didn't cheated on her. Her son is already five years old, and I really love that little guy.
"I wouldn't miss this for you 'no!" She rolled her eyes and smiled happily for me again.
Camille is really pretty. Fair skin, brown almond eyes, pouty pink lips, tall, I think she's as tall as me. Around 5'9 and natural brown curly hair. So, I can't believe someone cheated on her. She's so gorgeous and kind. They always say, once a cheater, always a cheater. Siguro, some can change. But that's rare.
I just smiled and thanked them.
I'm just happy that I helped someone again. A person who's innocent na dinidiin na naman because she's helpless. This is one of the reasons why I chose to be a lawyer. To defend the innocent people who's been accused. Maybe because my parents are known lawyers in the country. I always admire them for that. And they are the ones who taught me that justice needs to be serve always in a right and legal way. Not the other way around.
"Cams, I want to spend time with Kael, please" I said with pleading eyes.
She winced at me and rolled her eyes again. "Crystalania Adrian Salazar. You'll spend time with my son, pero we'll go out later at night, aight?"
I winced at the mention of my full name. Gosh! I glared at her like she killed my dog.
She smirked at me and tried to pull my hand again. Reporters.
I'm already used to this. Reporters waiting outside after finishing a case. I'm not bragging, but in my entire life as a lawyer, hindi pa 'ko natatalo kahit isang case. So, I think, they think I'm some sort of celebrity to be reported. But, I don't like it. I don't like being in the spotlight like this. I'm just doing my job. And that is to serve justice legally and in the right way.
"Attorney Salazar! What can you say about the case?" I heard someone asked.
"Attorney Salazar! What can you say about the sayings that you're the best lawyer here in our country?"
