Chapter: 32

 
Wei (Y/n) followed her brother out of the hall but he made no move to acknowledge her. It was either that he didn't know she was following him or that he knew but didn't show it and kept on his path. Wei (Y/n) didn't speak either and continued to tail him all the way to an alleyway. She let him enter first and followed after him in a few minutes.

When she entered the alley she saw Wei Ying handing a woman some bread to eat. The woman looked young and seemed to be of the same age as them. She had beautiful features but her face had dirt and dust on it. The dress she wore wasn't any different and was very dirty. Her face was pale and she looked malnourished. She heard Wei Ying call her Wen Qing and she put the pieces together. He was going to help her find her brother and family.

She watched Wei Ying say a few words to her and then she began to eat hurriedly. Wei (Y/n) thought it was best to let her presence be known so she called her brother. "Wei Ying." Her tone was slightly stern. He stood up quickly and turned to her. "(Y/n)! What are you doing here? Did you follow me?!" He was angry at her. He knew she would become a target of all the hate as well if she helped him.

Wen Qing paused eating and looked at the newcomer with a worried face. What if she killed her? Or dragged Wei Ying away then who would help her? She did look like a high-standing cultivator and looked like she was capable of this.

"Of Course I did. Do you think I'll let you leave like that? What if you cause more trouble?" She folded her arms on her chest and stared at him. "Why? You stood up for me back there... You know they'll target you too?! Don't you worry for yourself?" He asked but his anger was now replaced by guilt and sadness. 

"I worry more for my brother than what they think about me. You said that Wen Ning and Wen Qing saved you, I'm here to help you find Wen Ning." She said with a soft smile and Wei Ying sighed. "(Y/n) You know I can't let you do that. Your engagement to Zewu-Jun--" "Don't bring him into this and don't try to make me feel me guilty Wei Ying." She said sternly and uncrossed her arms, putting one hand on her hip she pointed at Wen Qing.

"Besides look at her she's worn out. How can I allow you to take her in this condition?" She said and walked forward standing in front of Wen Qing. "Lady Wen, I must thank you for what you did for my siblings. Please let me help you." Wei (Y/n) said with a small salute and Wen Qing stood up. "Please don't. As a doctor, it was my duty but I can't trouble you with this." Her voice was hoarse as she replied to her and Wei Ying nodded.

"(Y/n), You should go back. Madame Yu will be very angry if she knew of this." Wei Ying tried to persuade her again but she was his sister. Just as stubborn as him. "No" Her answer was short as she moved to stand behind Wen Qing. She put her palms on her back and started to transfer her spiritual energy to her. 

"Wei (Y/n) why don't you understand?! I do not need your help! Nor do I need you to be with me! I can do it well on my own." Wei Ying hissed and she looked at him with wide eyes. "Wei Ying--" "Just Go!" He yelled and she flinched withdrawing her hands from Wen Qing's back. 

"I'll go if that's what you want but please take care and if you need any help.." She pulled out a handwritten blue talisman "Activate this, and Eva will come to find me." She said in a low voice and thrust the talisman into his hands. As she turned to leave she looked back one last time. "And try not to cause too much trouble." As soon as her sentence finished she disappeared from their sight.

Wei Ying sighed sadly. "I hate doing this to you but I cannot drag you in this." He folded the talisman and put it in his robes before turning towards Wen Qing "Let's go." He said and she nodded following after him to search for her brother.

Wei (Y/n) was walking towards the banquet hall again forgetting completely that she had told Jiang Cheng to return and she would come to Lotus Pier later. Wei Ying's words were swirling in her head. This was not the first time he had lost grip and told her something like this and deep down she knew he didn't mean to like always. But she couldn't help but be bothered by it.
