Chapter 2: The First Canary

Part I: Legends No More.

In another area, White Canary, Valor, Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow and Batman were on a rooftop in Central City. However, this Central City was different as there are Banners everywhere, with the unknown Logo on them.

It was also quiet. Far too quiet. It was the sort of quiet that only came when you were too afraid to make a noise.

"Central City... sort of." Oliver noted the how different yet similar this place was to the city his brother protected.

Valor asked the question they were all thinking. "So what are we thinking here? Temporal Displacement? Alternate Earth?" the Daxamite Prince suggested. Really in their line of work, any of the above were possible.

"Could be either." J'onn responded calmly, as was his normal. "We may have jumped to a different dimension. Or, events in our own timeline have changed and we're in a new, altered present."

"Whichever it is, we need to figure it out, soon." Sara told them, even as she looked around for the telltale red blur through the streets of the city. "If Trickster's bomb detonated, then we need to get back."

"The Watchtower should've detected any anomalies, right?" Batman asked, remembering that Gideon had been programmed to detect any and all inter-dimensional irregularities.

Oliver shook his head, having already tried to contact their new base. "The Watchtower might not exist. Or they might use a different Comm. frequency here. Either way, I can't make contact."

"We need to find out." The Martian Manhunter told them. "If the DEO exists here, we should be able to use the database there to determine which it is and hopefully find someone to help us get home." he suggested.

The White Canary nodded even as she was staring at a particular building in the distance. "Good, in the meantime, STAR Labs isn't far away. I'll see if there's anything, or anyone, there that can help us." What went unsaid was exactly who she wanted to find.

Understanding her intentions, Oliver nodded. "Okay." he turned to J'onn. "J'onn, go to the DEO and learn what you can." he ordered. J'onn nodded as Mon-El got to his feet.

"I'll come with you, J'onn." he volunteered. The Last Son of Mars nodded gratefully. And with that, the two were flying away into the distance.

Oliver then turned to Sara. "Sara, check out STAR but be careful. We don't know how this world works yet." he told her.

Sara nodded with an "Understood." With that, she began running across the rooftops towards the Labs using a grappling hook to get far.

Watching her go for a moment, Oliver then turned to Bruce. "We'll stay here and keep an eye out."

The Dark Knight nodded to the Emerald Archer. "Got it."

STAR Labs.

In the main corridor of STAR Labs, Sara is walking on guard searching for any sign of her husband's doppelganger. The Hallway is visibly disused and damaged, indicating that there was a big fight here, at least a year ago if not more and no-one had been back since.

Sara sighed. "Where are you, Barry?" she asked worriedly.

Suddenly, she heard a scream coming from the direction of the cortex. It was familiar, but it was not that of her husband. She ran over to stand near to the entrance to listen in.

"You're making this harder than it needs to be, Slade." the familiar voice of Ray Palmer spoke, in a much darker tone than the ever-cheerful man she knew.
