"What did you do to her?" Rahne gasped, looking in the window, Reyes slumped on her desk.
"I may have spiked her tea." Roberto smirked happily, "Also snatched these." He held the keys to solitary up triumphantly, Sam grabbing them out of his hand happily.
"Sweet, I'll grab her." Sam left the group rushing down to the lower level, arriving a few minutes later. He smirked when he heard the soft sound of music playing from one of the cells.
He rapped on the cell, gaining the brunette's attention. "Sorry, I'm late darling, got caught up." He smiled brightly, Athena's eyes lightening up as she slipped her headphones onto her neck.
"How- How the hell did you-
"Berto, drugged Reyes and.. stole the keys." The door clicked open, Athena hugging the boy tightly. "Hold your horses." He laughed at her.
"Next time, maybe wait for me to take the pig down." He snarked, releasing her relieved.
"Will do, sir." She saluted him moving past him to head upstairs. She could already hear Berto's contagious laughs from down the corridor.
-I wouldn't mind being an X-Man." Rahne shrugged.
"X-man? Since when are we getting promoted?" Athena entered, the group celebrating her appearance. Illyana pulled Athena to side as she reluctantly apologised for her behaviour a few nights ago.
It was very unlikely for Illyana to apologise, but let's just say a chat with very rich companion was likely to change her views. Illyana eventually snaked off, similar to the two girls, Rahne and Dani.
Being stuck in solitary for a few days, had provided Athena with barely any sleep, so she was quick to fall asleep on the couch.
"What are those two up to?" Roberto snickered watching Dani and Rahne walk off together, the boys sat beside Athena on the couch.
"Cheers." Sam and Roberto clinked their drinks together happily, Sam leaning back on his chair to check on Athena before pulling his chair back.
"You know how much trouble... we're gonna get in for this?" Roberto laughed clapping his hand on Sam's back.
"What's she gonna do? Kick us out? I don't wanna be here anyway." Sam scoffed, sipping his drink slowly.
"Yeah. But as long as Dr. Phil has her magic bubble... over the grounds... you don't have a choice." Roberto sighed wheeling back and forth in the wheelchair.
"Yeah. I never did have a choice." Sam
mumbled sourly.
"What do you mean?" Roberto questioned curiously.
"You know, I had to go and work in the mines with my dad. I was still new to the job. And this one day, I just... I just got claustrophobic. Like I couldn't breathe. It was-
"And you blasted." Roberto mumbled sorrowfully.
"Yeah. I killed my dad. Most of his crew. I just... I just couldn't forgive myself."
"I'm sorry, man. I didn't...
"Just kept thinking... I would do anything to change that-
"I can't...please Ant.. I didn't." Athena mumbled in her sleep gaining the attention of both the boys, Sam leaning back. Sam had noticed her headphones had slightly slipped off, pulling them back over her ears.
"She talks about him a lot... Anthony." Sam mumbled to Roberto who had also leaned over to check on her.
"Who was he? Her boyfriend-
"Brother. Anthony was my brother." Athena sat up sleepily pulling her headphones down looking to Roberto.
"Sorry Thena, I didn't mean-
"It's alright Berto, I don't mind talking about it. Anthony was two years older than me, my parents are- were quite adamant on discovering mutations within both of us." Athena explained leaning her chin on the couch, "Anthony... he uh.. was invisible. My parents worked for an organization called H.Y.D.R.A, that's how I got this nasty brand", she moved her hair aside revealing the hydra logo.
"Whenever I... uh." She took a breath in, "Failed a mission they would hurt him. Anthony. I was clearly stronger than Anthony, and because of my size I could sneak into places easily. This continued for months until one day, I had had enough of it. I confronted my parents, the next day I heard screams... Anthony's screams. When I found his body I flipped... brought the entire compound down with me, blew up the generator, sent electric currents through the entire staff. That's when Reyes found me." Athena blinked rapidly.
"If I just had just done my job right I.. I-I could've save- saved him." Tears wet the couch, both boys silent, Sam moving his hand to hold hers out of Roberto's view.
"Why are you in here Berto?" Athena wiped her tears looking to the boy who looked taken back.
"I..It's- doesn't matter." He brushed it off standing up exiting the room leaving Sam and Athena.
"I'm really sorry about your brother Thene. But you have to remember it wasn't your fault." Sam's southern accent remained prominent, Sam shuffling his chair closer to the back of the couch.
Athena looked up to Sam, Sam running his hand across her cheeks wiping her tears. "Sam." Athena breathed slowly gaining his attention.
"Hmm." He locked eyes with her, humming in response. "What's wrong?" His face contorted in confusion, Athena looking at him differently.
She didn't want to be friends. She'd never wanted to be friends with Sam. She had been in love in him since she ran into him the first day at the compound. It broke her heart to say their kiss didn't mean anything. But she didn't want to lose their friendship, now she didn't care. She wanted him and she knew he wanted her.
"I really really want to kiss you Sam. I've wanted to kiss you since I ran into that day. I shouldn't of said that the other day, it did something." Athena's heart fluttered her face mere inches away from his. "To me. It meant the world."
"Well i'll be." Sam's eyes lit up before his hands pulled Athena in, connecting their lips, a spark forming. Literally, waves flowing through Athena's fingers as she moved her hands into Sam's hair pulling him closer. They separated for a moment, Sam jumping over the back of the couch, joining their lips together again. Athena pulled Sam on top of her, melting into his lips.
Athena's fingers had begun to unbutton Sam's shirt, when he broke apart. "Athena the cameras." Both of their breathing elevated.
"F*ck that bitch. I hope she's watching." Athena stuck her finger up at the camera, Sam grinning as Athena rejoined their lips. Sam cupped Athena's cheeks as he deepened the kiss exploring her lips lovingly.
Suddenly a scream echoed through the building breaking the couple apart, Sam flying upright. "Was that Berto?" Athena gasped sitting up, Sam quickly buttoning up his shirt hearing the screams grow louder.
"Sh*t!" Sam cursed the alarm beginning to blare, the boy rushing out the door. Athena stood up quickly fixing her appearance before running after Sam.
