JEON JUNGKOOK

The door to a partly rundown apartment swung open as Jungkook unlocked it, stepping inside and closed the door behind himself. The dark engulfed the young teen as he took off his shoes and later flickered on the living room light to create an illuminance.

"Dad, I'm home! Sorry, I'm home late I had detention!", Jungkook announced, waiting to hear for a reply that never came. He found that odd since his dad should be home around this time, unless he's out gambling but still, he knows his dad usually waits until late evening to do so.

Maybe he's busy in his room

With a shrug, Jungkook plopped himself down on the nearby couch, leaning back against the backrest. He tossed his backpack somewhere off to the side of the couch and fetched for the remote, switching on the TV. He scrolled through channels, ones that mainly consisted of live news.

I guess he forgot to pay the cable bill

Seeing as there is nothing interesting on for him to watch, he pulled out his phone, checking for notifications. Not one was seen. His phone was dry. That came to no surprise. He then decided to pass time on Instagram, where his favorite person posted frequently. He clicked the profile that showed up as his recent search, seeing as he's constantly checking her account.

Kim Jennie posted a new photo. Is what the notification read and without hesitation he took a screenshot of the photo. He couldn't like it and was afraid that it will be forgotten. He would occasionally like a photo here and there when he mustered enough courage. Today wasn't that day.

He clicked on the message button, contemplating on starting a conversation. He wanted to get to know her and possibly start a friendship, leading it to something more. But he never sent a text. He would imagine himself doing so. A funny meme or so. But as said before, today was not that day.

Not wanting to further feel like a wimp, he thought to check up on his dad. He hasn't step foot out of the room and he usually does to greet his son when he arrives home. And Jungkook noted how awfully dark and quiet the apartment seemed to be when he walked in as if no one was here to begin with.

"Dad, you home!", Jungkook called out still not receiving a response. This began to concern the young adult.

He stood up from the couch and made way over to his dad's room down the hall. He hesitated a second before giving the door a hard knock. The door cracked open slightly at the knocks, showing that it was never closed fully. Jungkook blinked, stepping inside the dimly lit room, spotting a hunched figure on the bed.

"Hey... dad you alright?", the curious teen asked, watching his dad stare into an empty space. "Hello, you there?", he asked, grabbing ahold of his dad's shoulders, giving him a small shake.

Still no response.

This began to scare the teen.

"Dad! Earth to dad!", Jungkook shouted, standing in front his dad. He managed to get his attention, letting a sigh in relief.

He analyzed his dad, viewing fresh tears present on his face. He stood in shock at what he was witnessing. His dad was crying. Real tears. This never happened - at least to Jungkook's knowledge. He's never seen his dad cry in all his eighteen years of life even when his mom had left them. This worried the teen heavily.

What could make him cry?

Jungkook crouched down to his dad's level, looking him straight in his bloodshot eyes.

"Dad what's wrong?", and as soon as the question left his mouth, he felt his dad lunge at him with open arms, embracing him in a tight hug.

This came to a greater shock to the teen. His dad never showed him physical affection. As long as he could remember, he never recalled him and his dad ever sharing a hug.

What is going on here?

"Okay, what is going on? You're hugging me, you understand that, right?", Jungkook pointed out, not returning the hug, feeling awkward at the sudden act. He wasn't used to this at all and was unsure of what to do.

"You know I love you right", his dad stated, earning a slow nod from his son. "No matter the mistakes I make, please promise that you will never doubt my love for you".

Jungkook quirked a confused brow, not understanding what was being implied or why he had to promise such a thing. His dad should be aware that he'll love him no matter what happens. But for him to request that didn't sit right with the ravenette.

"Dad, you're scaring me. Tell me what is going on"

The dad sniffled, pulling away from the hug, releasing his son. He stood up from the bed, having Jungkook do the same. Both standing at the same height.

"I'll be back", stated the dad as he stepped past his son.

"Where are you going?", Jungkook asked, growing frustrated and eerie of the situation.

"I'll be back before midnight"

Jungkook frowned, feeling as if everyone today was purposely making him confused and curious. First it was Jimin and now it was his dad. What is going on with people today?

"Oh and you're not grounded. It would be stupid to keep you here for something so dumb"

He's grounded me for dumber reasons

What is the difference now?

And with that his dad left him behind to contemplate what exactly just happened. A headache was beginning to form for the teen. People are just getting on his nerves. He feels like he's not in on a known secret. A secret everyone knows but him and it frightened him to say the least.
