CHAPTER 16

INTO THE OUT NOW

Makalipas ang ilang araw, dumating na rin ang oras para ako'y makalabas. Matapos ang mga pagkukunwari na ginawa ko, napaniwala ko naman sila. Dahilan kung bakit kasama ako ngayon sa mga sundalong lalabas para humanap ng mga survivors at mga gamit na makakatulong sa amin.

Kagaya ng dati, may mga speech pa yung mga nakakataas sa amin. Syempre, hindi ko naman kailangan na makinig. I'm planning to split ways once we get far from here. Call me selfish, but this is what the situation led me to do. Sana nga lang ay walang sisira sa mga plano ko. Dahil kung me'ron talaga, isusumpa ko siya hanggang sa aking makakaya.

"Now soldiers, go and do your missions!" with that, sumakay na kami sa sasakyan.

Our mission is similar to what I had before, we will just fetch some items that we may use to keep the survivors inside safe and to fill their stomach. Some of the soldiers im with are chosen while some voluntered. After knowing that the amount of soldiers we have lessened, not because of the mimickers-- but because they had to be sent to another zone. Wala namang nakapagtataka dahil kinailangan ng ka ilang zone ng back up. Nagkataon lang na mas marami ang aiming bilang kumpara sa ibang zone. Ang pinagtataka ko lang ay itong kasama ko.

"Why are you here?" bulong ko.

I wasn't expecting that Ziel will be with me.

"Kasi nandito ka." bulong nito pabalik. Dahilan para makatanggap ito ng kurot sa akin.

She hit my hand lightly when I did that.

"Hindi mo dapat siya iniwan." nagtaka naman ito sa sinabi ko.

"Who? Cy?" nandiri naman ito matapos banggitin ang pangalan ni Cyrhina.

I use to call her by that nickname--but after hearing Ziel call her that. Huminto na ako, I find them cute whenever they call each other with their nickname basis. It's like a small step before they initiate to the using of endearments.

"You sure hate her huh?" I ask with a teasing look.

"Of course I do." hindi na nito kinailangan pang pag-isipan ang sagot.

"You sure?" tinignan ako nito ng masama.

"Will you just stop? I wanna come with you because you don't know what might come your way." ani nito, iniiwasan ang aking tanong.

Para siyang nakatali sa riles ng tren, gumagawa ng paraan para makaalis.

"Fine, if you say so."

I somehow miss seeing trains, how they move so fast and swift. The beauty of being able to race with it while driving a car. The peace it brings whenever leaves fly because of its wind. I miss the life I had despite the hectic days. The pollution, the traffic, the school.

Thinking about it, if I where to discover a time machine. I would go back to the time before all of this chaos began. Before I realise that I had feelings for Vy. I wonder what we would be like if I discovered this feelings of mine earlier. What if this feelings of mine blossoms during middle school? How different would they be? Walking hand and hand before going in and out of school. Going on dates, skipping classes. Publicly displaying our affection-- but that might be a problem since I don't have much confidence that time.
