I woke up to the sound of Penelope yawning, and her shifting her position. She paused for a moment, then sighed. I opened my eyes, and I yawned. Penelope's arms were still around my neck, and my arms were still wrapped around her body.
She smiled at me, then said, "Good morning."
"'Morning." I said.
She then unwrapped her arms from my neck, and she said, "Sorry if you..."
I shook my head, and I said, "Its ok."
I then unwrapped my arms from her body. I sat up, and I looked around. Nothing was different from the night before, but there was a small amount of dew. I then stood up, and I started to get my stuff together. When I was looking for Penelope's things, I noticed that they weren't where I left them. They were gone.
I looked at Penelope. "Did you take your stuff back?" I asked.
She shook her head, and said, "No."
I stood still when I heard a crack.
"Penelope, don't move." I whispered.
She laid still, not moving. I then saw out of the corner of my eye a person wearing a black cloak run behind a tree. I slowly moved toward Penelope, not making any sudden movements. I slowly got down into a crouch, and I began to move Penelope into a sitting position.
"Don't. Say. A. Word." I whispered.
She whimpered from the pain, but otherwise, she said nothing. I then began to put my arms under Penelope's arms, so I could pick her up quickly if I need to.
Snap.
I threw Penelope onto my shoulder, and I began to run. Shouts sounded from behind me, telling me that the person I saw wasn't alone. I jumped over obstacles, and I swerved around trees. The shouts didn't stop ringing out into the forest. I flew over the ground as graceful as a deer, heading in the direction of where I thought Lanvestt is.
"Kid! Stop!" said a voice behind me, quite close.
I ignored him, and I asked Penelope, "Are these demons?"
She nodded, and said, "Yes, I think they are coming for you."
I grunted, and said under my breath, "No, duh."
I looked back, and I saw at least 10 people running after me.
"James! Loo-" she never finished.
I tripped, and blacked out.
***
I woke up to the sound of people talking. I then heard Penelope's voice, saying something. I slowly blinked. I opened my eyes, and I looked around. Everything was red, or gold, and there were people all over the place. In fact, as my vision slowly cleared, I saw that the people were red also.
"Huh? Where am I?" I said weakly.
Two people were holding my arms, one on each side. They were looking forward, not noticing that I was awake. I looked around, and I noticed that everyone was looking toward the back center of the room. I then looked toward where they were looking.
A man was sitting on a chair made of red rock, with gold armrests. I tried to see what the person looked like, but my vision was too blurry. I then looked around for Penelope.
"Penelope..." I said weakly.
I heard people grunting, someone yell, and then I saw Penelope run into my vision. She clung to my neck, and I heard her say, "Don't worry James."
It looked like everyone was shocked in the room from Penelope's action, as it seemed.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" boomed a voice.
"You're not going to touch him. If you do I'll...I'll..." she trailed off, obviously not knowing what she'll do.
"Take Penelope away. Right now, I want to talk to the angel." said the voice.
People grabbed Penelope, and dragged her away. "James! Help!" she screamed.
I gathered all my strength, and I yanked on the guards arms. When I got out of their grips, I stood up, and I took off running. I reached down to draw my sword, but it was gone. I grunted, and I continued to run to Penelope. I jumped up, and I kicked at one of the people that were dragging her away.
I heard someone mutter a spell, and I feel on the ground, paralyzed.
Someone started to applaud, laughing. "Wonderful, wonderful!" said the booming voice.
I looked with my eyes for the person that just spoke. I heard shuffling, and Penelope starting to scream. Anger welled up inside me, making me start to breath heavily. I heard someone say a spell, and the sound of Penelope scream came to a halt. I then heard someone being dragged away.
"Now, bring that angel over to me. We need to...talk." said the voice.
I was dragged over to the center of the room, where a thing that looked like a door frame stood. I then was un-paralyzed. I was picked up, and my hands were tied to the top of the door frame. I then got a full view of who was making me angry.
The person was red, obviously, and he was wearing clothes of red and gold. He had a pearl white sword strapped to his side, and there was words inscribed on the sword's blade. He was also wearing a crown made of the same red stone that made his throne.
"Welcome, my friend, to Hell." said the Demon King, grinning.
