It has been a while since we passed the soldiers, and I think that the robbers forgot about us, because Penelope, Nathan, and I were still in the wagon, covered by supplies, and a tarp. And if you were wondering, Nathans mouth was still shut close by the spell. It actually felt good to not hear his voice, but it kinda felt like we were missing someone.
Anyways, as we rode across the desert, I started to wonder if Penelope and I were ever going to make it to the Gernun Mountains. If we don't get there, who knows what will happen! We might get caught by the Demons again, but permanently. It wasn't a nice experience there, and it won't be better if we return. It will be worse.
"James?" asked Penelope.
"Yeah?"
"Do you think we are ever going to get to the Gernun Mountains?" she asked.
"I was just thinking of that. And honestly, I don't know." I said.
"Hm. And do you think we will escape from the robbers?"
I grinned, and I said, "I just need to find our weapons. Then, it'll just be improvisation."
"Um...well, that's a smart plan."
"I know, right?" I said, moving my arms around to try to find the weapons.
"Any other ideas?"
"Nope." I said, moving my legs around.
My foot tapped something that sounded like metal. I knew that was a sword of some sort, so I started to turn my body around.
"What are you doing?" asked Penelope.
"I think I found our weapons." I said, crawling toward the back of the cart.
Soon, I found my sword. I pulled it toward me, and I felt its hilt. It was still nice and smooth, and it still was warm to the touch. I grinned, and looked for the sheath, and my quiver. While I was looking, Penelope started to look for her weapons also. It didn't take lots of time, so if we were caught, we would be ready.
I attached my sheath to my belt, and my quiver to the opposite side of my belt. I then put my sword in my sheath, and I then started to think of a plan. It took me forever to find one out, but I did it. Now, if you were wondering, "why did it take forever for him to figure out a plan?" that's because I was laying down, bumping up and down, and occasionally hitting my head. It was annoying.
Anyways, when I finished making up the plan, I told it to Penelope.
"First, we wait until we stop. Then, burst out of here and start to kill-"
"Um, don't you think that's a bit reckless? Plus, I think it won't even work. Even if we were lucky, I honestly don't think we will even get close to escaping." she said, raising an eyebrow.
"Trust me, I've done a plan like that, and nothing bad happened...other than I hit my funny bone on a wall, and I had a limp for the next two days." I said.
"Yeaaaaaahhhhh..." she said, rolling her eyes.
"...Ok, it might not work, but at least give the plan a chance!" I said, almost begging.
"I will, once I see a Pegasus."
I huffed, and was about to say something, but I noticed something odd. It wasn't bumpy anymore. I stopped doing everything, and put my ear to the bottom of the wagon. I didn't feel anything...but I heard lots of talking and rushing around...
"Penelope, do you know if we are being followed??" I demanded.
"Why-"
"NOW!!"
She closed her eyes, and began to even her breathing. She then began to glow red. Nathan started to freak out, and started to move backward toward the wall of the wagon. I grinned, and looked back toward Penelope. She was muttering a long spell, which she was saying quite fast. I could barely make out a few words. They were, "es," "snomed," and "su".
Then, she stopped. Her eyes shot open, and she took a deep breath. She eyes were pure white, and she seemed like her life was sucked out of her. She went limp, and she stopped breathing. I started to panic, but then she started to breath. Her eyes turned to normal, and I started to calm down.
"Did you-"
"No. There is one, but that one doesn't matter."
"Ooookayyyy..." I said, then I paid attention to the situation on hand again.
"Why aren't we-"
Suddenly, there was a rumbling. People started to shout, and then there were screams. Penelope and I froze, and we thought the same thing. Something was happening, and either the Angels or the Demons were responsible for it.
"Demons."
"Angels."
"Both." We said at the same time.
I searched out for anything that looked like an Angel, or a Demon. I felt, and saw nothing. I looked at Penelope and she shrugged. I started to push the supplies off of me. When I got to the tarp, I threw it off. I suddenly looked away. I calmed my breathing down as Penelope popped up next to me.
"Wha- OH MY GOD."
We were flying over a giant sinkhole...filled with the limp robbers.
