Y/n's POV

We didn't start the summoning until after dark. Now, I was not one to get in the way of reuniting family members. But doing it via a summoning? No thank you. The six of us stood in front of a large pit near the septic tank at the edge of the woods, and besides Percy and Nico, no one else wanted to be here.

"Minos should be here by now," Nico claimed. "It's fully dark."

"Maybe he got lost," Percy suggested as Nico poured root beer and tossed barbeque into the pit and began to chant in Ancient Greek.

"I don't like this," Tyson shared.

"Me either," Grover agreed. All at once, the bugs in the woods stopped chirping. The air around me got colder, and my trident necklace seemed to freeze against my neck. Seconds later, the first spirits appeared, starting as shadows that thickened into human form. One floated down to the edge of the pit and knelt to drink.

"Stop him!" Nico ordered. "Only Bianca may drink." Percy raised his sword to shoo the ghost off, but he had already taking a sip. The spirit solidified, and I was able to see him clearly. It was an older man with a beard dressed in white robes with a gold wreath around his head. "Minos! What are you doing?"

"My apologies, master," Minos apologized. "The sacrifice smelled so good, I couldn't resist. It is good to see myself again. Almost in solid form."

"You are disrupting the ritual!" Nico protested. "Get-" The spirits of the dead began shimmering dangerously bright, and Nico had to take up the chant again to keep them at bay.

"Yes, quite right, master. You keep chanting. I've only come to protect you from these liars who would deceive you," Minos stated and turned to Percy. "Percy Jackson...my, my. The sons of Poseidon haven't improved over the centuries, have they?"

"We're looking for Bianca di Angelo. Get lost," Percy demanded.

Minos chuckled. "I understand you once killed my Minotaur with your bare hands. But worse things await you in the maze. Do you really believe Daedalus will help you? Daedalus cares nothing for you, half-bloods. You can't trust him. He is old beyond counting, and crafty. He is bitter from the guilt of murder and is cursed by the gods."

"The guilt of murder? Who did he kill?" Percy asked.

"Do not change the subject!" Minos growled.

"Minos, I think it's time you leave," I advise and draw my sword, the celestial bronze shimmering under the moonlight.

"Don't think I don't know about you, Y/n L/n. You pretend to be Nico's friend, but you are really hindering him. You try to persuade him to give up his goal. I would make him a lord!"

"I'm trying to keep him safe," I argue. "That's all I've ever wanted."

"Enough, Minos," Nico commanded.

"Master, these are your enemies," Minos reminded him. "You must not listen to them! Let me protect you. I will turn their minds to madness, as I did the others.

"The others?" Annabeth gasped. "You mean Chris Rodriguez? That was you?"

"The maze is my property, not Daedalus'! Those who intrude deserve madness," Minos declared.

"Begone, Minos!" Nico requested. "I want to see my sister!"

"As you wish, master," Minos gave in. "But I warn you. You cannot trust these heroes."

"Bianca, appear!" Nico intoned as Minos disappeared. He started chanting faster, and the spirits shifted restlessly. A moment later, a silvery light flickered in the trees. A spirit stronger than any of the others. Percy let it pass, and it knelt down to drink from the pit. When the spirit stood up, I was face to face with the ghost of Bianca di Angelo. Out of shock, my sword fell from my hand to the ground.
