Y/n's POV

The skeletal guards shoved Percy and I into a cell, and the wall became solid behind us. There also weren't any windows, so I didn't think the two of us would be spending sixty years in here. More like sixty minutes. Percy took a seat against the wall while I stayed standing and paced the length of the room.

"There's gotta be some way out of here, right?" I quiz and scan the walls.

Percy shrugged. "I don't see any. And this cell was made for dead people, so we'll run out of air sooner or later."

"I know, Percy," I confirm and turn towards where the door had been before. "Hey! Let us out of here! Hey!"

"Y/n, stop," Percy ordered. "That's obviously not working."

"Well I don't see you doing anything," I counter and start banging on the wall. "Hey! Open the door! Let us out of here!"

"While you continue doing that, I'm gonna take a nap," Percy claimed and rested his head against the wall.

After a little while, I stopped screaming and pounding on the wall, and took a seat on the floor. I leaned my head back on the wall and closed my eyes, taking a deep breath. If Kronos was planning some sort of sneak attack, Percy and I needed to be there to stop it. At some point, I must have dozed off, but I woke up when I heard my brother's name.

"Percy!"

I opened my eyes to see that Percy had lunged at Nico and pinned him to the floor. To make matters worse, Riptide was pointed at his throat. From where I was sitting, I could see that Percy was angry, and Nico was having trouble breathing.

"Percy!" I shriek and stand up. "Let him go!"

"Want – to – rescue," Nico choked out.

"Oh, yeah?" Percy growled. "And why should we trust you?"

"No – choice?" Nico gagged.

"Percy!" I shout again and shove my brother off of Nico. As soon as Percy was away from him, Nico coughed to try and catch his breath. My brother was on his feet now, his sword still at his side, which Nico eyed wearily. I extended a hand towards the son of Hades, a gesture of kindness, and helped him to his feet. "You okay, Nico?"

"Yeah. Thanks," Nico murmured and dusted himself off. "We have to get out of here."

"Why?" Percy asked. "Does your dad want to talk to us again?"

Nico winced. "Percy, I swear on the River Styx, I didn't know what he was planning."

"You know what your dad is like!" Percy exclaimed.

"Percy, stop!" I demand. "Nico has been trying to help us this whole time. So please, don't turn on him now."

"How can you trust him?!" Percy seethed. "He betrayed us! And you of all people should know you shouldn't trust others easily."

"Okay, one, we are not bringing up Luke. And two, Nico was probably tricked," I guess. "You and I both know what it's like to be tricked by a god. Now, Nico is the only one who can get us out of here, so just let this go."

"Y/n's right," Nico agreed. "We need to leave. I put the guards to sleep, but it won't last."

Nico pointed at the wall, and a whole section vanished, revealing a corridor. Nico led us out of the cell and down the hallway, away from the prison. Every time we came to a skeleton guard, Nico just pointed at it, and its glowing eyes dimmed. However, the more Nico did it, the more tired he seemed. We walked through a maze of corridors filled with guards, and by the time we reached a kitchen staffed by skeletal cooks and servants, Percy and I were practically carrying Nico. Thankfully, he managed to put all the dead to sleep, but nearly passed out himself. I drew my sword and took the lead as Percy dragged Nico out the servants' entrance and into the Fields of Asphodel. But that's where things went wrong. Loud bronze gongs echoed throughout the castle, and I knew they had to be alarms.
