She was screaming. A loud horse cry scream.

She heard this, but she was unable to comprehend it. At the time, she was unsure about how to respond. She knew nothing else. She lacked all knowledge. She had been asleep. But as she opened her eyes, she was startled by a scream and wailing that had come from another room and proceeded down the hallway to this one. Was there a gunshot as well? It wasn't important. All of it made a dreadful noise. It felt like a nightmare. Years later, she would still be able to hear the high-pitched screech in her mind—although only in her subconscious. But this time, she sobbed uncontrollably until a person who appeared shocked intervened to comfort her and put her back to sleep.

Years would pass before she finally realized what had happened. Oh no, not by herself, but with help from her aunt. Oh, the tears she shed that day. That lovely, sunny afternoon abruptly changed into a miserable, cloudy, dreary one. It was a nightmare rather than a bad dream.

Now, it seems as though the shock and trauma from all of that, had left her defenseless and open to attack.
