'How subtle', I remarked.
'By the end of the night, most of the visitors won't even remember what my companions looked like. And maybe it's not that stupid to bring the attention to us now, everyone here sees that you're with me. But your aura is supressed, if anything there will be gossip about you being the same woman whom I brought to Marlibra in Wyntern Falls', Nyshard answered while he took a large sip of his wine.
'I thought this is strong wine?', I glanced into his glass which was almost empty, to which he shrugges his shoulders.
'So, you finally had the balls to come back here?', I continued, the bit of wine I'd drank making be blunt. 'Do you mind telling me what this is about?'
Nyshard raised his eyebrow at my remark, but emptied his glass of wine before he answered 'You'll meet them in a moment. They can be... quite ambiguous. And blunt. And...', he smirked at me 'I think you'll like them... despite their meddling.''You haven't answered me... about your balls.'
He coughed and gave his now empty glass to one of the servants.
Syrion who had watched the two of us, simply shook his head and stated "Come, they are waiting. And we know they don't like to be kept... waiting. If they ask you to come... you come.'
I gave my half-emptied glass to a servant, who smirked at Syrion's words. Frowning, I turned towards the two men, feeling, as if I'd missed something, as Nyshard's hand touched the small of my back, urging me forwards.
We were being brought into another, smaller room with a wide terrace full of cosy armchairs with fluffy cushions.
The two Ladies stood outside in the warm evening air, both with some black glasses in their hands. The servant which had us led inside the room, gave us another round of drinks, and I eyed them with a frown, as I followed Syrion and Nyshard to the terrace, my heart beating high in my chest.
The first thing I noticed about them was, that they clearly loved each other. The two of them were standing close to each other, and it looked as if they were constantly touching. Rayila was more upfront, while Brya was a tad more silent and let her mate do the talking, just like during the toast in the hall.
"Nysh, my dear, you've kept us waiting for far too long", Rayila said upon setting eye onto the Lord of High Ilryn. She pulled him in a tight hug and pressed kisses on both of his cheeks, then she hugged Syrion and glanced at me.
"So, this is the infamous Adriyele Mellai Sybnal de Rylbnan, daughter of Kisandi Sybnal and Gravyn de Rylbnan. The long lost girl we didn't know existed."
She didn't make a move to greet me, but her gaze wandered from my head to toe. Rayila na Rint practically studied me."Hm. I see... this is your intended", she took a step towards me, reached out for me, intending to grab a lock of my hair or whatever but I caught her hand mid-air. I had to admit, she wasn't that fast, but Lady of Ralanmar or not, I wouldn't let her near me. If anything, I wondered why Nyshard's shield hadn't repelled her.
She looked at me with a raised eyebrow, then she laughed "Well Nysh, I see. She's got fire. But...", she ripped her wrist out of my grip and pushed her hand against her waist, looking at down at me. Rayila was a bit taller than me, and much more... impressive. Now, close-up, she was a beauty. A warrior, yes, tones and muscular, but a beauty with her fiery copper hair, her freckles and her piercing eyes. She raised her voice again "... but... she's also a bit..." Rayila looked at Nyshard with a cocky smile "... pure innocence, Nysh. I mean, she looks as if she can't harm anyone. Wide green eyes, bright hair... By the almighty... so, it's true? You're protecting the heiress of Gnys, your intended mate, and..."
