Xiao's pov

School is finally done! I grabbed my shit then went outside the school gate to see aether, he seemed to be waiting for someone so i minded my own business then walked away, just before i can step outside the school gates i felt an voice shouting, i turned around to see Aether running towards..ME!?

"Hey! Wait up!" He said almost out of breath, i then blinked a few times staring at him confused. "Xiao! Why did you ignore me?" He said still panting, "Umm because im about to go home, why would you even ask that silly question?" I asked kinda confused and annoyed, "BECAUSE WE HAVE AN PROJECT TO WORK ON?? DON'T TELL ME YOU FORGOT?" he yelled with an look of disbelief, "oh" was all i could mutter before feeling a sense of guilt "im sorry.." i said looking at him with an cold yet guilty expression, he just shrugged it off then said "its ok, we all make mistakes!"in a friendly voice, geez, this man is too friendly.

We just had an akward moment of staring at each other before i broke the silence.

"So umm, we should get going.." i said then he nodded, we then walked together for an pretty akward time, it was more akward then having to witness my 2 dad's making out.

As we kept walking throigh the alley Aether strikes up an conversation, "So Xiao, what is your favorite color?" Really? Small talk? Ugh, i guess he's new so maybe i'll answer. "Teal, how about you?" I replied while looking at him "My favorite color is yellow!" He replied cheerfully, damn this is a literal sunshine isn't he? "What's your favorite food?" He asked me again, i thought this was oveer, "almond tofu and...snow" (if ykyk). He then looked at me with an concerned look then chuckled softly, "snow..haha thats umm unique!" He replied trying to be nice, i felt my face grew red from embarrassment.

We then got to know each other for a while, we didn't even realised we got to  my house. Aether's face dropped when he saw our tiny modern mansion, yeah those 20% modern houses but more fancy and small? You kinda get the picture. I looked at Aether once we stepped into my house, he was in awe, "Xiao, your house looks so amazing!" He said looking around. "Both of my dad's are rich one owns a company, one works as an model" i said then looked at him, "I bet your house looks even more amazing". I said to wich he just chuckled, "well i wouldn't say amazing, but mine is definetly more larger!" Aether said warmly as he smiles, i slightly smiled then realised i was blushing, oh no...

I just nodded as i calmed myself down, we then head up to the stairs and went into my room. We sat down a desk and started working on the project, first we but what i ment by we is Aether describing about the topic.

After that i then immedietly nodded and went to work, "its ok, you can leave now and i will do the rest" he then stared at me then chuckled "Xiao, you silly, this is a groupwork, that means, we have to work together, so..thats means i will help out!" "O-oh.."

I kept looking at his beautiful face as i also listened, after a while i started to think about how strange it is...

Usually i either do it myself because nobody wants to be paired with me, or whenever  i do get partnered they just leave the work to me and just go out and do some other things not even helping me..but aether, he, he's different..

As i keep zoning to my thoughts i heard his voice once again, "hey, are you alright? You have been zoning out for some time just now.." Aether said in concern, i looked at him as i blink a couple of times, i felt his hand touch my thigh as he went closer.

We just stared at each other for a while, our eyes locked to one and another, completely forgetting about the project, he inched closer to me as i slightly blush, it was silent, this feels so weird yet..romantic? WAIT WHAT.

As we continue to be like this, the moment was ruined when my step-dad walked in, "Xiaoxiao~ guess who's ba-" my step dad stopped his words when he saw us in this position, aether close to me, his hands on my thigh, as our face was 7 inches apart from each other. Ohh shi-

Before i could respond my step-dad just slammed the door then ran downstairs, i heard him say "ZHONGLI, OUR LITTLE BABY HAS A BOYFRIEND!" He yelled from downstairs, i could feel my face heat up, and so does aethers as he backed away, we just stared at our red faces, god this was akward...

My father bursts down the door, and he looked furious "Xiao. Me and you talk. Now." He said looking MAD, i immedietly stood up then excused myself to Aether. My dad, Zhongli, gave me a strict scolding while my step-dad, Ajax, was just standing there trying hard not to laugh, after my dad stopped talking i explained him that we didn't do anything and that we were just partnered up for a groupwork. "Fine, i'll let you off the hook this time, just because i support you being gay doesn't mean you dont introduce your boyfriends to your parents." I immedietly blushed red "Dad! Hes not my boyfriend!" "Mhm..well then, go back to your project then." My dad said who was not convinced, i just sighed then went back to my room

When i got back inside, i went to my desk ti see Aether stil red from what happened apologisjng to..me?
"I-im sorry! I-i didnt realised what i was doing im so-" he said in a flustered voice, i cutt him off with my own voice being flustered and somewhat high-pitched "i-its ok! R-really, i didnt realised what we were doing! W-we should probably just continue with the project.." i said trying to be as calm as possible, he just nodded then we went back into doing our project, eventually after a few hours we had done almost half of it, whoo!

I just sighed as i looked at Aether, he looks back then smiles softly, i slightly blushed then tried to smile, "well that was done and fun! Maybe we should continue this tommorow at school? Its getting pretty late now.." Aether said, smiling warmly at me, i looked at my clock then realised how late it was, "your right! You should probably head back now.." i mummbled then stood up, i grabbed his arm then dragged him out of my room, then downstairs near the exit door, before he walked outside he smiled at me.

"See, Xiao, projects are more easier when you have a partner around!"
