IRENE POV

"Did you pack all your important documents?" I asked while looking at my sister who is busy reading her book.

"Yes." She answered without looking at me.

"How about your favorite sweater?"

"Yes."

"Your favorite books?"

"Yes."

"Your glasses?"

"Yes."

"Good. Are you sure you've packed all your things? It'll be a while before we return, baby" I said to my sister, causing her to look up at me and meet my gaze through her glasses.

"I've packed everything we need. You don't have to worry, Irene," she answered softly, smiling. I loved the way she said my name with her cute voice. Despite being 19 years old, I still treated her like a baby, and I appreciated that she never got angry about it.

"I don't understand why you haven't changed your last name like mine when you want to be with me," I commented.

"I'm a proud Manoban, Irene. I don't like yours because your surname is synonymous with troublemaker," she teased, making me laugh.

"Well, I'm thankful that we managed to get our passports quickly," I said.

"Because you worked hard for it. And you look like my parent, so it wasn't too much trouble," she replied nonchalantly, shrugging her shoulders while she adjust her glasses.

"Hey, baby, I'm only 29 and you're 19. How could I be your parent when I'm just ten years older?" I whined.

"Oh, I genuinely thought you were 32," she answered. Tsk tsk.

"Is that the book I gave you yesterday?" I asked, eyeing her.

"Yes," she replied shortly without looking up. I shook my head at this bookworm.

I leaned back in my seat and gazed out the airplane window, watching the clouds pass by. We were on our way to Korea where my sister is going to finish her studies. Last month she decided that she wanted to transfer to another school which I agreed right away since I want her to follow her dreams.

I settled everything in Korea, transfer process has been completed, all the necessary arrangements and paperwork have been taken care of before we took a flight where she will be on time at the start of the school semester. I turned my attention back to my sister, who was completely absorbed in her book. I couldn't resist, so I leaned over and kissed her cheek, causing her to look at me and smile. I playfully patted her head. She looked so cute.

Lalisa Manoban, her full name. She and I met 10 years ago. It was a late night, and I had just finished work, since the age of 21, I was already a working student because I didn't have parents to take care of me. That night, I saw a girl on the street who seemed lost, so I approached her and gave her some food since she hadn't eaten. She pleaded with me to take her in, and initially, I hesitated. What could an a part-timer medical student, no parents, have less income can give to a 9-year-old child? But the thought of her ending up with the wrong people made me worry.

That day, I decided to take her under my wing and care for her. I legally registered her as my sibling. However, she insisted on keeping her surname since it was the last connection to her family, and I respected her decision. Little did I know that this person would be a blessing in disguise. Since I took her in, many good things happened to me. I found great jobs over time, had enough money to support both of us, and made every effort to ensure we received an education.

Now that I am officially a doctor, I have a stable job that allows me to provide for both of us and fulfill her desires. I am incredibly happy to be with her as she is my only family.
