I had so much to do today that I couldn't sleep. It was moving day. I was moving from New York to North Carolina. The Outer Banks to be specific. My dad got a new job offer there and it would pay him a lot more. He would make about 7 figures a year. I was very proud of my dad. But it was just us. Ever since my parents got divorced.
My parents were never really...role models for love. They would constantly fight and argue to the point they saw it made an impact on me. They noticed so they decided to split. They both had custody of me so I would see my mom on the weekends and my dad during the week. But that changed after I turned 14.
They went to court for I don't know why but I just know the judge asked me which parent preferred to live with. I didn't have to think twice. I chose my dad. When my mom would get me for the weekends she would take me to her house and her boyfriend would be there. Her boyfriend was nice but I didn't like how she would shut me out. Sometimes I felt like he cared more than my mom. He would try to include me like when they would go out to get food. But my mom would say no. She would constantly leave me home.
Sometimes I would sneak out to go see some friends and she wouldn't even notice. The one time I got caught was because her boyfriend noticed I wasn't home. She yelled at me. A lot. She yelled for about 30 minutes. I just had to sit there because I was afraid if I talked back she would've slapped me or something. So I just waited until she was finished. She even locked me in my room. Thank god it was a Sunday and my dad came to pick me up later that night because I had school the next morning.
Anyway, I was in the car with my dad and we were just talking. We were already in the Outer Banks when out of nowhere a red motorcycle zooms past us super super fast that my dad had to hit the brake just as quick. My head shot forward and then hit the seat. My dad was in shock but his face was hilarious. I looked at him and and giggled "Are you okay, dad?" I said. I couldn't contain my laughter. He slowly turned his head to me and nodded and then he joined in on my laughter. "Are you okay?" I just nodded and then he continued driving.
When we got to the house I got out and stood there. I was amazed at the sight. My dad had bought this house on the North Side of the island. It was beautiful. My dad put his hand on my shoulder. "So, What do you think?" He said with a smile on his face. "I think it's beautiful. This is great dad!" I said and hugged him.
