This is a request! I suppose it's a kind of follow up from Puppies and Cuddles.

Luke and Zander had always been inseparable, even as children. Their love had blossomed from their shared passion for music, but it was their bond and ability to find solace in the presence of each other. They were opposites in many ways, Zander having an attitude and Luke wanting nothing more than to tease him for it, but they both found love that would pact them together for eternity.

A Cold winters day let snowflakes free, they danced around with the breeze, allowing them to frost the small town of Rosemeadow. However, devastating news set in. Max, Zander's loyal and beloved dog, fell ill and passed away. The loss was tearing both of them up, but it hit Zander especially hard. Max had been his faithful companion for many years, helping each other through thick and thin.

Zander held Max's lifeless body in his arms, his stomach sinking like a bottomless pit. Luke, his heart breaking for the loss of his fluffy friend, cried with him, wrapping his arms around Zander in a protective manner.

Days turned into nights, and the heaviness of their loss lingered in the air. Zander didn't seem to recover much, his cries not stopping. Zander hated to see his beloved cry like he did, but continued to hold him and console his sorrows.

One evening, as they sat together on the couch, Zander's eyes filled with tears still as he sobbed out; "I miss him so much, Luke. It hurts... He was so special to me..."

Luke's heart ached at Zander's words. He gently wiped away Zander's tears, his voice filled with tenderness. "I know it hurts, Zander. Max was family, he was an important asset to our lives... But remember, he loved seeing you happy. You gave him a good life! I'm sure he wouldn't be happy to see you crying... Now would he?" He whispered, wiping away Zander's tears with his thumbs.

Zander sniffled, his eyes still filled with tears and confusion. "But how, Luke? How can I be happy without him?"

Luke's eyes lit up mischievously. "I think I have an idea, Zander. Just trust me, You'll love it!"

Curiosity sparked in Zander's eyes as Luke led him outside. They walked down the familiar streets until they reached the adoption agency they had passed a few weeks ago. Zander's heart skipped a beat as he realized what Luke had planned to do, stopping Luke in his tracks.

"You're... Not trying to replace him... Are you?" Zander spoke, his tears reforming. Luke's expression softened. "Of course not... But I think it's time to get a buddy who will be there in his remembrance." Zander nodded in affirmation, going hand in hand into the agency.

Inside the agency, Zander's eyes widened in adoration at the sight of the fluffy puppies playing and wagging their tails. Luke smiled, his voice filled with excitement. "Zander, let's go see the puppies!!"

They spent hours playing and cuddling with the puppies, but one little bundle of soft fur stole their hearts. A beautiful husky with soft, pleading eyes and a wagging tail, the puppy seemed to understand their pain and offered a glimmer of hope.

Zander took a deep breath, his voice filled with determination. "This one, Luke. This one... Reminds me of when Max was a puppy..."

Luke beamed, his heart swelling with joy. "In that case, welcome home, little one." Luke bended down, petting the head of the small pup.

They named the puppy Fluffy, a name that Zander chose because of the amount of dog hair he left in a trail around the house.

As Zander held Fluffy in his arms, he felt a mix of sadness and life spark up inside of him. Max would always be his number one companion, but Fluffy reminded him that love didn't only apply to one person.

That night, as Luke and Zander went to sleep, Fluffy lay between them. Zander stroked his stomach, taking in the soft fur and warmth that conveyed their upset and comfort. As Zander fell asleep, he was reminded of how Luke made him feel special, making a mental note to return his favour (Wink wink).
