(CHAPTER NINE)┌─── ∘°❉°∘ ───┐
"MAKE SURE TO WATCH THE SPIDERS." BRITHA WARNS JUDE AS THE THREE OF THEM WALK THROUGH THE PALACE. Jude does a double take suddenly looking more nervous as she eyes the impassive witch in front of her. Curious, she leans and whispers."Spiders?" She asks, but Britha doesn't respond. The Roach looks back at both of them, looking impatient himself.
"Just a little farther." He says gruffly, opening a cupboard and climbing inside. His eyes reflect orange, like a bear. "Well come on, get in and close the door." Britha gestures to the door when she meets the mortal girl's eyes.
"After you." She offers. Jude doesn't move however.
"I can't see in the dark." She admits, rather embarrassed. The Roach grunts.
"If it makes you feel better, princess. I can hold your hand." Britha raises a brow. Jude squints not knowing if the witch is serious or is just having a go at her. But as usual her expression is unreadable. Slowly Britha reaches her hand out.
"We don't have much time. I promise you'll be fine." She says. Jude gives in and takes it.
They settle on a narrow platform above what appears to be the palace's wine cellars. Jude realizes it's a secret passageway. She grins at the idea of being the only mortal familiar with it.
"Enough gawping." The Roach asks. "I can wait."
"Don't mind his grumpiness." Britha says. "The first time when I observed the scene before us I almost tripped on my arse. He looked like he wanted to end me right then and there" Jude smirks a bit.
"Well aren't you talkative today." The Roach points out. "I don't think I quite like that." Britha rolls hers eyes.
"Are you guys ready to tell me anything?" Jude asks, determined. "Like where we're going or what's going to happen when we get there." Feigning innocence, Britha masks her voice lightly.
