She ran. Her instincts told Amy to go to get away. Her lungs burned as she took large gasps of air running through the unfamiliar town. White spots began to blur the vision in front of her and her limbs began to scream with pain. Just a bit further Amy kept telling herself; finally she rounded a corner into an empty street where she exhausted on to the ground. She pulled her knees to her chest and let out a heavy sob.
That was one of the worst things she had ever seen. Death before her eyes, a living human being taking his last breath before succumbing to death’s cold hands. And Zero his face was determined, focused with no remorse. He just killed that man in cold blood.
How could that happen? She trusted Zero, on what the premise he saved her? How could she have been so stupid so trusting? Now she was lost and alone. The fear of this new strange world finally began to catch up with Amy. Pure exhaustion and sadness poured out of her in silent tears.
“Damn it, damn it, damn it!” Zero was hitting the rugged bricks across from him after he saw Amy run away. She was terrified of him what he was, what he had done. He had murdered right in front of her. But this man was going to kill them Zero thought trying to make recompense for his actions, and the man was lost. A metafin with no will power; he could feel lifelessness flowing through the veins of the man from a few feet away.
Some one was controlling those with Affinity. It had to be The Cure, the ones killing all of those without Affinity and taking control of those left would be the sort of thing right up their alley. Ultimate control, that’s all they want that’s all they ever wanted. Now his family was dead and Amy was gone, Zero had nothing.
And he knew one thing he was going to destroy the cure, even if it killed him.
“I hate to see a pretty girl cry,” A dark hand extended itself to Amy “, tell me love, what troubles you?” Zero? Why was he back didn’t he have enough, didn’t he want her gone? Amy looked up staring into piercing brown eyes.
“Anton!” She jumped back against the wall. Suddenly Zero didn’t seem too bad compared to what stood in front of her. He lifted his mouth into a knowing smirk and walked towards her. Amy started to stand up.
“You know you’re a certifiable asshole kidnapping me like that.” She spat.
“Such a tiny attention span, is that all you can really focus on? That I took you? Really with larger problems at hand I would think that would be the last thing you would focus on.” Anton tugged on the hem of his military like jacket; the only design was a circle with what looked like DNA running through it.
Stay calm, Zero can’t be too far away. Maybe he’ll come…..Just stall—Amy’s thoughts were interrupted as Anton raised his hand and involuntarily Amy’s head jerked to face his. It felt like some heavy force held her there.
“Are you even paying attention you little bitch!”
“First of all no one calls me a bitch, Second of all you’re screwed.” Amy smiled up at her assailant.
“And why’s that?” Anton leaned in to be face to face with Amy. Amy opened her mouth and screamed.
Zero heard a ridiculous noise. It was a woman’s scream probably someone getting robbed in the hole he thought absently. As he turned to walk on his was a strange sensation tugged at the back of his mind “Amy,” he breathed. And at that he began to run.
