Beep Beep Beep

I furrow my eyebrows at the slightly annoying sound.

Where am I?

I slowly open my eyes, blinking a few times as I try to adjust my eyes to the brightness of the room.

It looks like I'm in a hospital room.

The cables connected to me, the heart monitor, the white patterned sheets...

Yes, definitely a hospital.

Oh god, what happened?

The last thing I remember is fireworks in the sky...

Wasn't I just in my apartment with Taylor and Ray?

We were relaxing and wanted to order pizza, but... now I'm here?

A nurse enters the room and I turn my head to look at her.

"How are you feeling...?" She takes a look at her clipboard.

"L/n, Y/n."

"Alright..." I whisper, my throat feeling sore.

"What happened?" I ask, my voice shaking.

"A meteorite exploded over Tokyo. You were found underneath the rubble of your apartment that is situated close to the Shibuya crossing." She informs me and I furrow my eyebrows.

"A meteorite?" I repeat.

She nods.

"Yes, and it hit Shibuya crossing the worst."

I try to sit up and groan, my hand going to my torso, around which a tight bandage was wrapped.

The pain makes me sink back down into the bed.

"You were severely injured, Miss L/n." The woman tells me, looking at her clipboard.

"The rubble pierced your body. Your torso was hit the worst. And your lung was punctured, along with your shoulder and thigh. But you've been here for a week now, so you should be able to move a bit by now."

I nod at the information given.

It must've been terrible...

Then my friends come back to my mind.

"That day... I was with my friends. Uhh, their names are Ray Nozumo and Taylor Keikoku. Where are they?"

I watch as the nurse looks through her papers.

Then, a sad look mixed with guilt washes over her features.

"A lot of people were killed that day, dear. I'm sorry to inform you, but both of them have passed away." She says, averting her eyes as she speaks.

My heart drops to my stomach.

"They... they are dead? A-and I survived?"

A tear pricks my eye and I try to swallow the lump in my throat.

"Don't beat yourself up, it is not your fault." The nurse tells me, approaching my bed closer, placing her hand on my shoulder in a comforting manner.

"A lot of people were killed that day. Way more than people who survived."

I nod, clenching my fists.

"You are very lucky." She continues.

"How so?" I get out, turning my head to her.

"It says here, that when rescuers found your body, your heart had completely stopped."

She takes a deep breath.
