(I know it's been a long wait I just randomly had a peak of interest in this sort of thing. Anyway, I hope u enjoy)

Y/n and Max sat in a carriage on their way to the palace. They were sat hand in hand, and Y/n was nervously looking out the window. Nervous was an  understatement, and Max noticed that.

"Y'know it's not too late to bail. I can walk home from here." Y/n spoke, turning his head to look at her.

"What? No. It'll be fine." Max gave him a pageant smile, unsure of herself.

"That didn't sound quite confident."

She had no idea how her dad would react, but she knew it wasn't gonna be good. She squeezed his hand and looked down into her lap, silently praying it'll be okay.

Once they arrived, Max led him down the long corridors to the dining room. She instructed Y/n to sit down beside her, which he did quite stiffly. They sat in silence as tension filled the air. Shortly, Max's father presented himself by loudly clearing his throat.

"Who is this boy?" He spoke sternly, deciding to stay standing.

"Um- dad, this is Y/n. He's from the village." Max said the last part quietly.

"Max, you know the rules."

"Yes, but I just thought-"

"Guards! I want this boy out immediately!" The king exclaimed, clenching his fists.

"What? No! He's my friend!" Max watched as the two guards seized Y/n by the arms and started to drag him out of the front doors. Her father had to hold her back as she tried to wiggle out of his grip and help Y/n.

"Maxine, someday you will realize that those kind of people will never fit in around us. You will never be one of them. Now go to your room. I don't want to see you for the rest of the night."

Max's father walked away, as the girl stormed to her room and slammed her door shut. She wiped the tears from her eyes and looked out her window. Moments later, an idea popped into her head. Max began stuffing pillows under her comforter to replace her body before climbing out her window.

Y/n let his feet drag him all the way to the big field across from the kingdom. Unbuttoning his vest, he laid down in the grass and stared up at the stars. He didn't know any consolations, but his mom used to tell him all about astronomy. She was a big believer, even though the villagers called her crazy.

"I knew I'd find you here."

Max smiled through her puffy eyes at the boy. He jumped to his feet and speed-walked over to her.

"Max I'm so sorry, I never meant for any of that to happen-"

"What? No that wasn't your fault. If anything i'm sorry. His views on people are so childish. Honestly, I don't even see how's he's king with that much air in his head,"
Y/n's face of worry turned to admiration as he listened to the princess ramble.
"anyway- I just mean to not feel bad." She took Y/n's hands into her own with a small smile on her face.

"How come you're out here? I thought you were sentenced to your room?" Y/n questioned, watching Max walk to where he was previously laying, and do exactly that.

"Yeah, well- I left. He doesn't know that, of course." She looked over at the boy. "Are you gonna join me, or what?"

Y/n silently laid down beside her, both staring up at the stars.  They stayed quiet for a few minutes before Y/n spoke up.

"My mom loved stargazing. She used to tell me all about them." Y/n smiled, thinking about when his mom would take him out past him bedtime.

"Loved?"

"Yeah. Before she- got sick." He swallowed thickly.

"You don't have to-" Max began, looking over at him.

"No. I want to." His gaze stayed at the sky. "Every night, after my dad would fall asleep, she'd take me out and tell me everything she knew. I didn't understand anything, I just liked seeing her happy. Then when I knew her days were coming to an end, I would always ask, since I was older and she wouldn't take me. She always said she was too tired or weak, though. I just wish that I knew when it would've been the last time so I could cherished it a little more."

Y/n sighed, worrying that he might scare Max off.

"See that bright one? That's her. I just know it. It only started showing up after she died." He finished, with a small tear rolling down his cheek.

"She's beautiful." Max whispered softly, intertwining their fingers.

"She always has been."

"Um- I think they have some astronomy books down at the library. I'd be more then happy to rent you some." Max was now the one looking at the sky, and Y/n was staring at her.

"Max, you've done enough for me. She passed a few years ago anyway."

"Just let me do this for you, okay?"

"Okay." Y/n smiled. For the first time in a while, he felt relief.

(Hi! I know this took a very long time to write and it is bad but I so badly wanted a part 2 I just shouldn't have left it where I did in part 1. Anyway, I have a much better idea for part 3 which is the final part. Thanks for reading!)
