Y/n walked out of his small home, trailing down to the market. His father had given him some money and a pail of clean water. As he made his way to the fish hut, he smiled to himself seeing the little old lady running the stand.
"G'afternoon, Martha." Y/n beamed.
"Oh, Y/n! You're right on time. We just restocked the good fish so you get first grabs." Martha was one of the only villagers that liked Y/n, so they traded water for fish as she used it for herself at home. She reasoned she was too old to get it herself.
"Music to my ears." Y/n set the pail behind the stand as the lady prepared the cod for the boy. He stood silently before feeling a tap on his shoulder.
"Excuse me, Mr. Have you seen a boy named Y/n? You look awfully similar." Said a familiar voice.
Y/n turned to see Max smiling at him.
"Max! I mean-" he grabbed her hand and gingerly kissed it, making her turn red. "What are you doing here?"
"Well, I still never gave you those books I promised, plus I wanted to get a little air." She smiled, motioning to her satchel.
"All done, deary." Martha spoke up, handing Y/n the wrapped cod and smiling at Max. "Princess Maxine, how wonderful to see you."
"Please, just call me Max; but its nice to see you too. Is it okay if I steal this one from you?" She asked, referring to Y/n.
"He's all yours. But not for too long. Good worker he is."
"I'm sure. Enjoy your day Martha." Max turned to Y/n. "Got any free time?"
"Always. Walk with me home? I just need to bring this there and then I wanna take you somewhere. Its beautiful." Y/n answered, leading her in the direction of his house. It was very small, but cozy.
"Papa? I've got us dinner!" Y/n called out, setting the fish on the table as he looked at his father sitting weakly in a chair with a blanket on top of him. Max observed the scene, feeling her heart become heavy.
"Papa? You said you were feeling better. What happened?" Y/n asked, his voice laced with concern.
"I-" his father started, before a coughing fit struck him. After a few seconds, he looked up at Max. "Have you brought an angel for me?" The older man asked.
"Nono, this is my... this is Max." Y/n introduced the two. "Max, this is my father."
"Its so great to finally meet you, Mr. L/n."
"You're a beautiful young lady. No wonder-" He had to take a breathe before continuing. "No wonder my boy is constantly talking about you."
"Well i think very highly of him. I'm terribly sorry about your wife, by the way. Ive brought some astronomy books incase you'd like to read them." Max set them down on the table, which Y/n's father smiled at.
"Now I'll have something to do during times like this. Thank you very much. You two have fun, now."
Y/n opened the door for Max, and before he could close it, his father spoke up.
"Y/n?"
"Yes, papa?"
"Treat her well."

The pair walked hand in hand through a field of grass, with Y/n leading. They had been giggling to each other the entire way, both nervous around the other. Right before they were about to reach their destination, Y/n got behind her and covered her eyes, carefully walking with her forward.
"Is this necessary?" Max asked, holding onto the boys forearms for stability.
"Yes, we cant ruin the surprise... Okay- one, two, three-" Y/n uncovered her eyes, revealing a lake with a dock and the sun slowly setting.
The two stood in silence for a moment. "Wh-what do you think?" Y/n asked."Its beautiful." Max says with her hand over her mouth.
"I'm glad you like it." Y/n picked up a stone and skipped it across the water.
"How did you do that?"
"What? This?" Y/n asked sarcastically while he skipped another one perfectly. "A lot of free time. I'll show you. You gotta find a flat one."
Max picked up a flat rock and shows it to him. He nods, and stands behind her guiding her hand. "You just wanna- kinda lean and flick. Try that."
She tried to skip it, but Max's mind was too foggy with the current position they were in.
"Its alright. Try again- here." Y/n gave her another rock, which skipped twice.
"Yeah! There you go!" Y/n turned and smiled at her, which she reciprocated.
"Well, I couldn't have done it without you." Max looked up at him lovingly. He stared at each other for a few seconds before Y/n began to unbutton his vest, shirt and pants. (I know what you're thinking.) "C'mon. Lets go for a swim."
"Uhm- I've never swam in a lake before." Max confessed.
"Theres a first time for everything!" Y/n called out before running off the dock and jumping into the water.
