I was gently grabbed, and harshly thrown on the hard ground. Yet I still feel the presence of the soldier squatting down next to me, his gloved hand resting on my stomach.

„Best regards from Cactus." He chuckled lowly, tapping his finger over my stomach as a form of an ‚goodbye,' and left. The engine of the car zooms past me, and I let my muscles go lax against the cold ground at the thought of finally being alone.

„Fucking potato. Once I'm finished with him he'll be a smashed potato." I cursed underneath my breath. Thankfully, my hands were bound in front of me, so I had easy play getting rid of my blindfold and all of the things tying me together. Once I freed myself and slipped into my old clothes again, I rushed toward my home.

It was a small apartment, but it was cozy. Rushing into my living room where the books I talked about cheer me on to get that toxic relationship, I took the money I earned with the abusive man.

After I messily cleaned my face off the dried blood, I instantly leave my home. Even though I could really need a deserved sleep, something different is much more important right now. I run to my veterinarian that I'm in debt with, seeing it luckily still open.

I rushed the woman on the information stand to get me the doctor, and I can literally see the sigh that left his mouth the moment he saw me.

„Miss. Arcadia, if you're here to-"

„Don't start to make assumptions, doc." I cut him off, handing him all the money I've earned. „I know it's not everything. But is it enough for me to spend some time with her?"

He silently sighed, his lips pressed together as he looked into my pleading face.

„If I don't come back here within a week from now on, with all the money I owe," I swallowed as my following sentence felt sour on my tongue, „Then you can give her to someone who will and can take care of her." I solemnly nodded my head.

„A week?" He repeated to make sure that I meant my time limit I made for myself.

I nodded again, „Not more." After my confirmation, he mentioned for me to follow him. After walking through hallways, we finally arrived to the room where most dogs were caged behind bars.

As I saw my precious Australian Shepherd lady, I almost couldn't stop my tears from falling. She has a very comfortable looking mattress on the floor, yet it's not as soothingly than seeing her curled up on my couch in my home where she belongs.

Her gorgeous blue eyes found mine instantly as she was already waiting by the door. Once the see-through door was open, I instantly welcomed her in my arms.

I didn't let go from her as I looked up to the doctor, „How are her wounds? Is she doing alright?"

A soft expression grew on his face. „Yes. She's doing better everyday. Her wounds slowly but surely heal, and she's getting her energy back. We often had to stop her from playing around with the others, or else she would risk in her wounds to tear open again." We share a laugh together, but it made me sad that I wasn't with her, that I couldn't share these precious moments with her.
