"Faye, I swear to God I won't do it again. Don't leave me, Baby. Please! I love you. I won't hurt you again," Devon pleaded on his knees. Second-hand embarrassment, Faye thought to herself as she watched the movers pack up her things.
She had them in every room of the house finding what was hers, so she could leave. They had been packing for about 2 hours now. Devon had come home to Faye getting her things packed and ready to move out of the house they shared.
She wasn't going to stay in a relationship where she was no longer happy, kept getting cheated on, and being verbally and mentally abused. She was done.
Faye had men lining up for her, why would she stay? She had no plans of being with any of those guys, but she damn sure wasn't going to stay with Devon.
Devon was her boyfriend of 4 years. He proposed to her right after she graduated from college. She said yes, and about a year later, she found out that he had been cheating on her with her now ex-bestfriend, Tesha.
She stayed because she thought he would change, but she soon realized that that was a dumb idea. And they had still been seeing each other and he was never going to stop. And now her ex-bestfriend was pregnant with Devon's baby.
She was trying to give him a chance, but she was falling out of love at a rapid pace. She was just scared to be single and on her own. She had him for so long.
But as she was falling out of love with him, she was falling in love with herself. As Devon saw this, he tried even harder to tear her down. So, naturally, the verbal and mental abuse grew stronger. The manipulation, gaslighting, and other abuse was at an all-time high for the last 6 months.
And she was finally leaving. Losing her fiancé and bestfriend at, basically, the same time looked unfortunate to others. But it was only a breakthrough for her.
Faye Chandler was so mature for her age. She was 23, already making 6-figures, $500,000 a year to be exact as one of the best and youngest investment bankers at her firm. She was more than stable. And it took no time for her to plan and get away from this man.
Of course, she was still trying to heal. But this would be one of the best decisions she would ever make. And after a while, she would just pretend this never happened. No one would ever guess what she had been through with this guy.
Devon grabbed onto her leg, she immediately kicked him off. "Don't piss me off, Devon. Get off the floor and act your age," she said and glared at him. Her glare was cold, almost like she felt nothing for him.
She kind of didn't, though. She no longer loved him, or wished him the best. She hoped that karma would come to bite him in the crack of his ass and cripple him until he felt what she felt.
The fury and hurt she felt was unmatched. Someone she thought loved her as his friend and potential wife had betrayed her. And her "bestfriend" that was like the sister she never had betrayed her right along with him.
At first, she blamed herself. "I should've suspected," she thought, "I should've seen the red flags," she thought again. But after a while, she realized that it wasn't her. She didn't do anything wrong. She thought she could trust them, and she was rudely mistaken.
