Wattpad deleted this chapter so I had to rewrite it! Sorry for any confusion!Alexia Putellas had lived a career of biting her tongue; the media were relentless and would twist her words if she were to ever speak out of turn, it was the worst part of being the captain of a world class team like Barcelona.
Yet, when Alexia watched as the woman whom she deemed as her 'friend', an unspeakable rage bubbled inside of her. In that moment, the captain vowed to never bite her tongue again if it involved Valerie.
This led to Alexia stomping over towards Valerie and her ex-girlfriend, Katie McCabe and she caught onto the last part of their conversation.
"You're the one who cheated, I'm moving on from you." The captain was proud of her teammate who puffed out her chest and pointed her finger in Katie's face.
"You won't even really move on from me. Admit it." Katie bit back, grabbing hold of Valerie's pointed finger and pulling it down—regretting it when the Irish woman's hand was grasped tightly by another's, catching her by surprise.
"She already has." Alexia stepped in between the pair, shoving back Katie to create distance between them, not sparing a glance at Valerie who said her name questionably before staying silent.
"Don't tell me, Val..." Katie began to laugh which angered Alexia. What was so funny? She thought to herself, "You two—? You're dating?"
As Valerie opened her mouth for a rebuttal, the Spaniard stepped forward towards Katie again and glared at her, "Do you have a problem with that? Yes—Yes, we are."
Alexia didn't realise what she had said, confident with her own words. The woman never felt the need to show off, especially with the reputation and career she had already built for herself. But, the urge to see Katie's face crumble gave her an unknown sense of joy.
"I can't believe this. Whatever." Katie clicked her tongue, sparing a glance at the captain before turning away, but soon her hand was dragged back by Alexia.
"Oh, and McCabe?" The taller woman called out, leaning in closer to the Irish woman, "You don't get to call her Val, only people who truly love her do." Then she let go of Katie's hand, ignoring how the woman huffed annoyingly and walked away.
As the Irish woman returned to her team, she couldn't help but sweat under the eyes of Valerie's teammates and sister.
"Val? Are you okay?" Alexia asked worriedly, keeping a small distance between her and Valerie whose head hung lowly as she stared down at her shoes.
The silence was deafening as Alexia kept her eyes trained on the blonde, who finally lifted her head to reveal her tear-filed eyes—a sight that made her heart break.
"Why did you do that? I don't need protection, Alexia." Valerie defensively bit, ignoring the part where the woman winced as she used her full name.
"Isn't that what friends are for?"
This was evidently the wrong thing to say as Valerie's stare hardened and frown deepened.
"Five minutes ago I was your girlfriend, are you really that disloyal?" The blonde teased, snickering when confusion set onto Alexia's face as she was oblivious to what she had told Katie not long ago.
You two—? You're dating?
Alexia's eyes widened as she cast a glance back at Katie stood with her Arsenal teammates, then back to Valerie who had a hint of a smirk on her lips as she watched the internal battle that her captain was having.
"I'm so—so sorry, Val. I didn't realise.." Alexia zoned out, brought out of her panicked state when she heard Valerie's melodious laughter, "What are you laughing at?"
