Floating in a black room, with black clothes, and no light. I can feel warmth and hear what's going on. "she was screaming in pain and just told me to call for help. Her door was locked and it was a heavier door. I came as quickly as I could. She was really in pain. Do you know what was wrong with her, doc?"
"More internal bleeding. She's strong and must have gotten scared on the long walk home. She's not beaten just some bruising on her back. No signs of rape or being punched, slapped, or hit anywhere."
"Well, that's good. She's a good kid if she'd stop doing so many drugs. She's young, intelligent, but she does have some bad stuff that she does. Like drug, self-harm, she's anti-social for the most part."
"Well that's okay. She comes from a..." he pauses for a moment before finishing. "A horrible background. If she wakes up I'll ask if it's okay to tell you but, for now it's personal. This is the hospital that she always comes to when she's injured like this and were not giving up on this young girl. She's sweet and can make a joke before going into surgery. She's amazing."
" How old is she? We were never close neighbors. It's not like we fought but, she just moved in. She's either never there or she's on her roof smoking whenever I'm home."
"She's almost 20."
" How old are you. You don't look much older."
" 26."
"Wow not really that big of a difference. She doesn't have any family here."
"She does. Look at that man over there. It's her brother. You should go talk to him. Be very careful he was in jail for homicide. He's not mean or anything just don't bring it up."
"Ok, thanks."
"No problem.""Doctor, she's up."
" Be right there."
"Hurry she's throwing up everything." Well I am. I don't even know why I'm puking. I have hardly anything in my stomach. I wonder who's here for me. I heard the doctor say that I have 2 people but, I don't know who."~~~~2 hours later~~~~
"Im done. Same routine as always? Or something different."
"Different. First, why were you scared last night, and how? Why is there bruising on your back?"
"Justice scared the shit out of me then, I ended up falling backwards into the ground in an alley on the west side." I left out the rest of the unimportant details.
"Okay well, you need to be more careful."
"Okay. Anymore questions?"
"How do you feel like 2 visitors?"
"Shit, it's not my mom and Noah, right?"
"No. New ones. Do you want to say hello?"
"Sure send 'em in."
" Hey" justice says with a smile on his face." How you feeling?"
" I'm fine. Thanks for coming it means a lot to me."
"No problem. Your my little sister and we are the only two people in our family who aren't insane! We stick together no matter what happens. We're always going to be here for one another."
" Good!" I say because justice is so damn sweet. He's always been there for me and I've always been there for him. nothing was going to change that. Is that the woman that called 9-1-1 for me? I have to talk to her.
"Can we switch people now. I kinda want to figure out who is here for me."
"Yea no problem."
"Thank you justice, for everything."
"And thank you brooklynn for always being strong for me." As soon as he leaves a woman comes in.
"Hello Brooklynn. My name is Jessica but, you can call me Jess. It's nice to finally meet you. I'm your neighbor."
"Oh, thank you for checking up on me."
"It's not a problem. I heard you scream in pain so I called 9-1-1 as fast as I could. They came knowing your full name and 5 other reasons why you came there in the past 3 years."
"Oh, well yea. I was abused and raped from 7 to 17 when I ran away."
"Oh, I didn't know. I'm so sorry."
" It's all good. Running away was one of my best choices."
"Well, that's sad."
" It's a part of my history that defines my personality and some of the decisions I make."
"I know. And I noticed."
"You've seen me one roof."
"Yea, and arguing with a handsome guy who always leaves. I saw him go to your house yesterday and I told him you were at the hospital."
"Okay. I don't think that Eli will let him in. He's getting married to a bimbo."
"Ah that story of my life."
"I'm sorry."
"No it's fine I'm now happily married with 5 children."
"Wow, how old are they?"
"35, 29, 27, 23, and 19."
"Holy crap. That's amazing. I was told I might never be able to have kids due to the abuse and neglect. I'm going to foster kids."
"That's a big thing there."
"Yea. I know.""Someone else is here for you." Eli says. I know he wants me to see whomever it is.
"Okay."
"I'm just going to let you talk to whoever is here. Have a nice day. I'll hopefully see you again."
"Yea same.""I broke it off with tiffany! Brooklynn, I love you not her."
"She cheated didn't she. And I love you too, but after this how do I know you've changed for real?"
"Because I promise."
"We both know how well you keep those."
"I'm so sorry you declined my proposal so here I am, asking you again."
"What?"
" Brooklynn Marie Johnson, will you make me the happiest man in this world and marry me?"
" I don't know. We can't marry each other yet. In 2 months, if you prove yourself then I will marry you. deal?"
"Deal!""Time for your medicine Brooklynn. Sorry but, all guests have to go. You can see her at 12:00pm tomorrow. Thanks for coming."
"Bye brook."
"Bye Noah." as soon as he leaves Eli smiles. I really like him. He's always been my doctor ever since he started to work here and I stopped refusing to get help and actually have people bring me here when my father would break something in me. I like him and I hope that I can see him outside of the hospital.
"So Eli, what meds this time?"
" None."
"What?"
"I heard the good news. I just wanted to say that I'm here for you."
"Well thanks."
"Here's my number, just in case you need anything."
"Thanks."
"You need to get some rest. Today was eventful for you and I can tell your wiped out."
"Thank you Eli."
"It's my job." Then he leaves. I dont know if he feels bad for me or if he actually likes me. And how did he hear about it? I go to sleep with a smile on my face anyways.
