A spoonful of Cheerios met her mouth while staring off absentmindedly — silently hoping for a text or call from Rafe.
She knew him well enough to know that he wouldn't text or call her though. He was too prideful.
As embarrassing as it sounded, she would've given in by now if it wasn't for the last thing they argued about before she left the Island.
But last night at the party in Charleston, she was reminded exactly why she hated him.
Though a piece of her deep down still cared about him—loved him even, and she loathed herself for it. Someone who controlled, manipulated, and humiliated her still remained heavily in her heart.
And regardless, she still missed him.
She missed his touch, his cologne, his smile—everything that made him, him. Besides all the bad aspects that came along with it.
" We're heading to the farmers market, Fran. You should come with, get some fresh air," her stepdad, Todd insisted from the living room couch he and her mom laid on. Watching their murder mystery show on the ID channel like usual on his days off.
She turned her body, positioned on the kitchen's countertop. " I was gonna go to KC's," she mumbled, taking another bite of Cheerios from the bowl in her lap. " Since Heyward has him on lockdown and everything."
" You know, you've been going out a lot lately don't you think?" Janet inquired, failing to hide the worrisome in her tone." Maybe you should take a break for a day or two."
Franny's face grimaced, annoyed at the suggestion. " I had a break, for months actually," she retorted.
Janet shared a look at Todd, unwillingly turning her head to face her daughter. " Franny-"
" Mom, it's not like I'm going to a party," she argued, annoyed at the constant breathing down her neck since she'd gotten back. " I don't get what's the big deal."
Janet sat up on the couch. " I have every reason to be concerned about your whereabouts, okay? Especially since-"
" Since what?" Franny dropped the spoon back into her cereal, annoyed. "Since I became another drunk in the family?"
The cold words left a thick tension in the house, leaving Todd in an awkward position as the mother and daughter glared at each other from across the room.
" Franny," he sighed, breaking the silence.
" I want you back in the house before eight, and you're in for the weekend. No plans." Janet snapped.
