welcome to new york - taylor swift

❝ My family has been going to Susannah's beach house in Cousins every summer since I was a baby, no, even before I was born. All autumn, winter and spring I spent my time counting the days until we get back for the summer.

Just my mom, my sister Belly, my brother Steven and of course, Susannah and her two boys, Jeremiah and Conrad. The Dads come to visit sometimes, but they don't belong there, not the way we do. This is just our summer and I've always loved it that way.

The memories this beach house carries, are my favorite. The beach, the swimming pool late at night, movie nights with the moms and the boys. The boys most of all.

It's the same every summer. For me, the most magical things happen between the months of June and August.

And now, it is time to head off to the beach house for another summer. While Belly is still in her room, last minute packing with her best friend Taylor, I'm ready to leave, dreaming about what this summer could be like for me or more so, for us.

Is there any chance Jeremiah could see me as more than just his best friend this summer?

I mean don't get me wrong, being his best friend is great, but sometimes I just wish we could be more than that. Ever since I was 10 and started liking boys, I've always had my eyes on Jeremiah. He was my first ever crush, and I don't think that is something I'll ever get over.

"Kids, we're leaving in the next ten minutes," mom yells from the kitchen. I grab my suitcase and my sunglasses and head to Belly's room. I walk in just as Taylor says "You want a hot make out with Conrad Fisher. You want his tongue in your mouth, you dirty little slut."

This makes me laugh out loud "She does? Wow Belly you're so dirty! Ew."

"Guys, stop teasing me! You know that's not ever going to happen. He doesn't see me this way," Belly whines.

"Never say never, Bells." Taylor and me say at the same time, then we give each other a high five.

The next second we're all tangled up in a group hug saying our goodbyes, before we drive off to Cousins for the summer.

﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌

I've always loved this drive, this moment, it's like coming home after a long, long time.

Belly and I are screaming our lungs out to 'Can't Do Better' by Kim Petras, while mom and Steven are trying to contain their laughs.

"Can you turn this down a little, please?" Moms had enough and Steven agrees, "Yes, please" while turning off the music.
