the thrill - wiz khalifa, empire of the sun

❝ When we finally arrive at the beach, I stop and take a deep breath, "I've waited all year for this!"

"Wanna race?" he challenges me.

I play pretend, "Oh no, I can't. Your legs are too long now, I can't do that."

He believes me and pouts, "Come on," while I take the chance and start running as fast as I can.

I throw my towel away in the meantime and run into the water. He quickly catches up with me, laughing.

I turn back around to face him and we're starting to splash each other with water, pushing each other so we fall and get wet. He jumps at me, headlocks me and dips me into the water, getting all of my hair wet.

When we get back up, I sweep my hair back out of my face. We're both laughing so much, my stomach already starts hurting.

This was what I've missed all year long.

After spending time with Jeremiah at the beach for hours, laughing, playing, laying in the sun, we decided to get back, since it was time for dinner soon.

While walking back he puts his arm around me, "I've missed this. I've missed you." I smile up at him, "Me too, Jere. I'm always excited to spend the summer with you."

At dinnertime I sat next to Belly, talking about how mom accidentally insulted an author who was standing right behind her.

Steven is looking at his phone while laughing like a maniac. He shows whatever he's looking at to Jeremiah and now they both start laughing.

Mom is pissed, "Steven, I swear to god, if you look at that phone one more time I'm putting it in the screen basket." Susannah backs her up, "It's just that we wanna see your beautiful faces, can dinner be a screen free zone? You know, like the olden days?"

When Steven still doesn't put his phone away, Jeremiah grabs it and throws it across the room, landing exactly into the screen basket, "Boom! Nailed it!" I give him a high five, cheering for him.

"Okay, okay, we get it. You've been working out," Steven scoffs. "Awh, you're just jealous because Jere has a better Body than you," I throw at him. Belly and Conrad start laughing.

I looked at Jere and for a small moment I thought I saw a blush form on Jeremiahs cheeks, but he grabs his glass super fast and starts drinking his water.

My older brother starts talking about how it's about the lean look and that he can't wear tailored suits if he's working out too much and we all had a good time in general at dinner. It came up that Conrad quit football, which worried me a little. I remember how much he loved it, he always wanted to play with all of us, he taught me and Belly how to throw the Ball, since we were so bad at it.
