don't leave, don't go - deyaz

❝ Jeremiah and I approach our table. "Jeremiah, honey, where were you?" his mom asks.

I had to keep myself from crying when I saw her. We were so stupid, how could we all not notice? I felt so selfish for not realizing it earlier, there were so many signs.

"Uh- I ate something. I think maybe the shrimp was bad," he lies to Susannah's face.

She gives him an apologizing look, "Oh honey, I'm so sorry. You know, the caterer is gonna be hearing from me."

Mom rolls her eyes, "Okay, Karen." It made me chuckle a little.

"I'll get you some ginger ale. Excuse me," Susannah calls over a waiter.

I look over at Conrad and Belly dancing the last steps of their dance. I knew it was wrong but I couldn't help but feel jealous. I really wanted to have this dance with Jeremiah.

Of course his moms cancer was way more important and I would never blame Jere for what happened tonight. It just made my heart burn, not being able to dance with him in my beautiful dress.

As the music stops we all applaud, Belly looks over to me and shoots me a sad smile, as if to say 'sorry you couldn't do this'.

"Where is that ginger ale? I'm gonna get you one from the bar," Susannah says to Jeremiah, still thinking he was sick.

In the meantime Jere walks over to Conrad and Belly angrily. I follow him quickly, wanting to know what he was about to do. Was he going to tell Connie?

"Hey," Jeremiah interrupts their little moment. Belly looks at him, "Hey Jeremiah, where were you? Jules was looking everywhere for you."

He doesn't really pay attention to her words, "Conrad, we need to talk, all right? It's important, it's about mom. I found something out."

Conrad seems taken aback, "Um...yeah. We'll talk about this later, okay?"

"No, it's important!" Jeremiah argues but Conrad still brushes it off. "It's okay," he just says.

Just as the thought enters my head, Jere already puts it into words, "You already know, don't you?"

He clenches his jaw, "You've known this whole fucking time and didn't tell me?"

I can definitely understand why Jeremiah is mad at his brother. How could Connie keep something so important from him?

"Jere..." Conrad tries to calm him down. Belly looks at me confused but I didn't say anything.
