Updated 6/18/24: Reading this author's note almost a year after I first posted this story is wild to me since so much has changed since then. I'm still deciding what to do career wise and writing this story has been a great comfort to me in the midst of all the anxiety about the future.
This book was inspired by my interest in historical romance and fantasy. Disclaimer: this story is not meant to be historically accurate whatsoever. I am not a historian at all!
This story is now about three characters I hold dear to my heart and their struggles with love, friendship, survival, and faith in the midst of political turmoil. I also tried to depict their struggles with their own self image and character in the face of adversity.
This was a completed work I will be uploading to the end; however, as I was editing, it began to branch off in a new direction I like much better so I am trying to write ahead and edit as I upload. It does contain depictions of strong language, sexual assault (the aftermath of rape), violence/gore, and human remains. I will place a warning at the beginning of chapters and place an exclamation mark in bold (!) before these scenes. In addition, there will be sensitive topics discussed. The culture in this story is very traditional, so be warned of the themes touched on and criticized by the characters.
I myself have struggled with my own faith and my role as a human being in the midst of all the evil increasing and running rampant in the world today. I hope anyone who stumbles across this story can escape the world at least for a little bit (:
