Chapter 2

Crystal's POV
I woke up to the sound of groaning and a door being slammed. I looked up to see a boy, around Pony's age, brown hair, darker skin than Pony, jean jacket, blue jeans, and converses. He had bruises and he was limping.
"Whoa." He says as he sees me. I hop down and rested in the floor. He went to lag on the couch and I went in the bathroom. I sniffed for the first aid kit and finally found it. I grabbed the box and went to the living room. I opened it up, with my teeth, and grabbed a bottle and a little dabbing thing. He looked at me, confused, and scooted closer to the couch. Man, he's really beaten up and really scared. I laid the dabbing thing on the floor and turned to comfort him. I rubbed my head on his good arm and grabbed the thing once again. I dabbed it on his cuts and bruises, hoping he will be alright. When I was finished, I grabbed a bandage and put it on his worse cuts. I went down to his feet and gently raised up his pant leg. He groaned and I stopped, looking back at him. He nodded, telling me to continue. I pulled it up, only to be faced with his foot badly bruised. I grabbed an ace-bandage and wrapped it around his foot. He winced a few times, but he quickly stopped after. I went to the kitchen and grabbed a bag type thing and put some ice in it. I wrapped it up, so it wouldn't open, and laid it gently on his foot.
"You're an amazing dog." He says. I growled.
"I mean wolf." He says unsure. I nod my head in satisfaction. He smiles and I pulled a blanket over him. I laid on the floor, right in front of him.
"Are all wolves like you?" He asks. I shook my head no.
"How can you understand me??" He ask. I shrugged and closed my eyes again, falling back asleep.

~later that morning~

I heard yelling and my instincts took over and made me get up, ready for attack mode. I looked over to see the guys staring down at me. I relaxed when I saw them and limped over to them. They were eating breakfast and the kid that I helped last night was still on the couch. Soda tossed me some bacon, which I devoured, the guys laughed and I went back to the couch. The kid's hand was hanging from the couch and I rubbed it. My action seemed to have woken him because he started petting me and tried to get up. I pushed him back down and he groaned. He stayed still and I went to the kitchen. I grabbed a full plate, I think it was for him, and brought it to him.
"Thanks." He says quietly. I nod and sat down close to him, in a protective way. He seem like he has seen a lot and I don't mean in a good way. I looked back at the kitchen and saw the guys staring at us.
"Wow, she must like you Johnny." Says Pony.
"I guess so. She helped me last night, she bandaged me up. I know it seems crazy, but she did." He says while petting me. I barked in response and the guys smiled.
"So what's her name??" Asks Johnny.
"Crystal." Says Soda. Johnny smiles and scratches me behind my ears. That seemed to have triggered something because my foot started pounding against the floor and I couldn't control it. I tried stopping, but nothing worked. The guys laughed and Johnny stopped. Three other men came barging in the room. They stopped instantly when they saw me.
"Hey guys, this is the newest addition to the gang, Crystal." Says Soda, in a jokingly matter. They smile and one of them came closer to me. He had a Mickey Mouse shirt on and a leather jacket. He went to pet me, but I snapped at him, clearly joking. He jumped back and I went on my back trying to laugh. The rest of the gang started laughing hysterically. We all calmed down and I went over to the guy.
"I guess she really got you Two-bit." Says one of the unknown guys.
"Shut up Steve." Replies Two-bit. I walked closer to Two-bit and rested my head in his lap. He gently stroke my fur and I jumped when he touch where my ribs were. I leaned away and went over to Soda. I hid behind him and he got down on his knees. He pet me and said, "Its alright, it was an accident. Just chill out and rest."
"What's wrong with her?" Asks one of the guys that I didn't know yet.
"Soda j think you need to tell them the entire story." Says Darry.
"Ok. Well last night I was walking home from work and on my way back I noticed a lump in the road. I walked over to it and I found out that it was a wolf. I was frightened at first, but then I noticed it wasn't moving. I took her to the animal hospital and they said she was hit by a car. I volunteered to take her home with me and then they gave me these papers and crap. I filled them out and came home. Darry wasn't that pleased, but I begged to him about keeping her and he finally gave in. So yeah." Says Soda. They looked at me and back to Soda. They nodded and went back to doing their thing. Then I heard the same guy I didn't know ask something to Johnny.
"Who patched you up?" He asks.
"Crystal." He replies. The gang stopped what they were doing and paid full attention to him.
"The wolf?"
"Yes Dally. I came here after another beating and she was there. I rested on the couch and she patched me up. She was very careful and she knew what she was doing. I was kinda freaked out, but whatever." He says. I limped over to him and sat by his feet. He started petting me again and I leaned back to the touch.
"Wow." Says Two-bit.
"I don't believe you." Says Steve. I barked in annoyance and went to find the first aid kit. I did the same thing I did to Johnny on him, but I didn't actually use the stuff. I put everything back and came back in. The gang started staring at me and I bowed my head, as in 'Thank you, Thank you very much' from shows. They laughed and I went over to Soda. I laid down, on the floor, and huffed. Soda went to his room and came back. Dally went to the kitchen and brought back a jar of PICKLES!!!!!! I started wagging my tail and jumping. The gang was confused, but Dally wasn't. He grabbed a pickle and threw it up in the air. I jumped up and caught it in my mouth. I ate it and waited for another one. Everyone was looking at me strangely and I ignored them. Dally threw another and I caught it, scarfing it down.
"Will ya look at that." Says Darry.
"Try it with something else." Says Steve. Dally sat the pickles on the table and grabbed some olives. He threw one up and I didn't react. I laid back down and waited for more pickles. Dally tried to get me to get it, but I didn't want that, I wanted pickles. Dally sat the jar down and picked up the pickles. He threw one up and I ran for it, jumping and catching it.
"Wow, she's pickle crazy." Replies Two-bit. I nod and barked. They laughed and Dally threw another. As a result, I caught it and ate it quickly. He pulled one out and ate it. I growled and sat back down. He put the jars up and sat down on the couch. I felt a tingling feeling in my stomach. Oh no. I gotta pee!! I jumped up and went to the door. I pawed at it and howled. I looked back at Soda and he opened the door. I went outside and peed. Soda stood on the porch and waited. I walked back and went inside. I laid down beside Pony and he pet me.
"Man, she's even house broke." says Darry surprised. I barked and laid my head back down.
"Hey man, I'm gonna head to the drive-through. You guys wanna come?" Asks Dally.
"Yeah sure." Says Johnny, Pony, and Two-bit at the same time. They left and I went over to Soda. I rested my head in his lap and he ran his fingers through my fur.
"Remember, you have work tomorrow." Says Darry. No!! I want to be beside him all day!! I started whining and they looked at me.
"I know. What are we going to do about her?" Asks Soda.
"Pony could watch her." Replies Darry. Soda nods and leaned his head back. Steve came over and sat next to us. They started watching Mickey because that was the only thing on. It was starting to get dark and Pony just arrived with Johnny.
"Are you staying here tonight?" Asks Pony. As soon as Pony asks that question I heard yelling right across the street.
"Nah, I'm good. I'll see ya later." He says. He started going toward the door, but I ran up and blocked the door. I growled and blocked the door with all of my might. The more he stepped closer, the more I growled and the more I backed closer towards the door. They guys looked at me confused and then the screaming got louder. I guess this time they heard because they had realization planted on their faces.
"I guess your staying here tonight then." Says Darry. Johnny nodded and reached down to pet me.
"Thanks girl." He says. I licked his cheek and went back to Soda.
"She might become a rescue dog." Says Soda. I growled at him and he looked at me confused.
"She doesn't like to be called a dog." Replies Johnny.
"Oh, how do you know?"
"Last night I called her a dog and she growled. I corrected myself and said wolf. She stopped and went back to normal." He says.
"Oh. Sorry girl." Says Soda. I licked his cheek and laid down, on the floor beside Soda's feet. I started to feel a little chill and noticed Johnny shaking. He was laying down, so I went over to him and pulled one of the covers over him.
"I swear she is acts just like a human mom." Says Pony. The guys laughed and nodded in agreement. I snuggled close to Johnny, trying to keep him warm, and closed my eyes. I heard the room shift and opened them back up. Everyone left and only Johnny and I where in the room. I shrugged and closed my eyes, falling asleep instantly.
