The halls of Hogwarts were silent. The pictures and paintings on the walls of the ancient castle were snoring; some softer than others.

The children and professors were long since asleep. But the man wasn't bothered about that. If he had heard someone coming he'd simply slip into his animagus' form and scurry off to a crack in the wall. He was on a mission. As he found his way to the caretakers office he slipped out a wand he had taken from one of the students, "Alohomora," he whispered; the door opened and he wandered in.

He started to ransack the officer, pulling out the draws and pulling open cupboards. Yet, he couldn't find it. He couldn't find what he was looking for. In frustration he let out a scream, thrashing papers and draws around.

He needed that map. If he didn't have it, he knew eventually someone would see him on it and alert the authorities. And he couldn't have that now could he.
