{Chapter 5}

Many gruelling days have passed.

"Y/N! Pay attention! How many times will you zone out while sparring?" Before your able to respond to the burly man who just called you out, you've been tackled to the ground and put in a head lock. You yelp in pain.

"ACK! I-INSTRUCTOR...please! I c-can't BREATHE!" Liben let's go of you and gets up. You sit on the cold stone ground and try to recover. "How are you expected to fight against a man who's had training all his life if you can even take me down? Where's that will to live? At this rate you'll either die by the Naganohara or Rui himself!" Liben always told you the truth with no sugar coating. From the short time you've been with him, you've been humbled. He's not a bad man in your eyes.
He is a good person and is only working with Naganohara to make ends meet. His daughter is his whole world. She's 1 year younger than you but... You get absolutely destroyed by her. She's way out of your league. You're always on the verge of death while fighting against her. The amount of bruises, scars and injuries you have from one spar is phenomenal. All she does is jab you in the stomach a few times, sweep your legs and flip you over and you've lost.

You know the pattern but you can't escape it, you're far too weak. It's barely been a month. You can't be too hard on yourself. But if you don't get better quickly Rui would suspect that you've been talking to the Naganohara's. He's not as gullible as Tsukasa, he is a mafia boss after all.

"Hey! Kid! A-are you alright? Did I squeeze you too hard?" You look up at Liben, with a concerned look on his face. "Im ok, I wouldn't have agreed to this if I couldn't handle all of this." You wipe away some sweat and get up. You aren't going to give up this easily. You're not a damsel in distress to be saved. "Ha! That's something a novel protagonist would say and all of a sudden they get a power up hahaha!" Liben remarked as he laughed. "Let's see if that effect happens for you, kid." A mischievous grin appeared on his face as he got into position. He gestures you to charge at him. "Give me all you've got, put your heart and soul on the line. Ignite the fire within your soul!" Liben smiled. "I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO SAY SOMETHING COOL LIKE THAT!" That smile turned into a very large grin.

"Weren't you just talking about the cringe protagonist remark I just made?" You laugh as well, charging at the man at full force, it seemed his daughter was more skilled than he was, previously you've nearly defeated him, if it wasn't for your fragile figure and your previous head injury- you could've definitely beaten him. For sure, but you'll surpass your limitations. It's just an issue of mentality. No time for thinking. Just charge. You attack Liben with full force. You jab with your left hand at his stomach, he seamlessly side steps to your left. So predictable, with your right hand you throw another punch at his stomach. He's hit. "You need more force kiddo. At most it'll leave a bruise, let me show you a fatal punch." You know you'll be hit. You've got to dodge and counter attack. You try to copy the side step, it's not a flawless replication but it's got you in the clear. Before you know it though, there's a fist going straight for the side of your stomach. You can dodge it but you'll take a tumble which could leave you in a more vulnerable position.

Wait.

Do you have to dodge? You've always dodged. But if you were in a fight with Rui Kamishiro... Would he be so lack luster to where you'd be able to dodge all of his moves? Sometimes. Violence can only be solved with violence. You stand your ground and lunge at Liben. You strike the man in the stomach with taking minimal damage due to the punch aimed at your stomach had mostly missed and gone past you, thanks to the momentum. Your goal is to disarm and immobilize, your job isn't done yet. You strike him again at full force, you realise that you're at a good angle to uppercut. Of course, you won't miss that chance. THWACK!
Liben trips backwards but regains his footing. Without time to regain is composure though- you charge at him and tackle him to the ground and put in him a headlock.
