A/N: Okay guys, this may be the most boring chapter in the history of literature, but this is the first time in about a year that I've written these characters. I'm trying to get to know them again. So please bear with me. I am determind to see this story through, and I have rough drafts of the next few chapters ready, they just need a bit of work. I promise, I am definitely going to update with SOMETHING once a week, minimum.

Thank you so much to everyone who has encouraged me to come back to this story. I'm glad you enjoyed it enough to want more!

Give me con-crit, please!

Chapter 14

I woke up to the feeling of someones breath on my face and eyes watching me. I was laying down, somewhere soft. I was too warm and my hand and my head ached.

I opened my eyes slowly, the light too bright. Brendon’s face hovered above me.

“Thank God” he whispered under his breath. I blinked up at him, still sleepy and confused. I tried to sit up, pushing with my hands. I winced as pain shot through my palm. It was only then that I noticed the bandages wrapped around my hand. And then I noticed the phone in Brendon’s hand.

“She’s awake” he said into the phone. “D’you think I need to bring her in?” I couldn’t hear the response, but Brendon smiled as he listened.

“No, I’m certain it came out with the blood. And I cleaned it and the bandages have slowed the bleeding. Yep, I can change the dressing. And straight to the doctor if… yeah, that’s great. Thank you so much!”

Brendon leaned down and pressed a kiss to my forehead, straightened up and marched out of the room.

I took a moment to take in my surroundings. I was laying on the sofa in my living room. I was wrapped up under two blankets and a pillow had been tucked under my head.

Brendon came back into the room carrying a glass of water and what appeared to be a packet of painkillers from my medicine cabinet. His phone was nowhere to be seen.

“Here, take these. The doctor said it’d help with your hand.”

“What happened?” I asked, warily. The last thing I remembered was looking at the shard of glass buried in the palm of my hand.

“You fainted. After you cut your hand. I panicked because I thought it was because of blood loss, but apparently, between the shock and the pain and the stress of the day, you just fainted. I called for help and they told me to clean your cut and try and get the glass out, which I did. So take these painkillers so I can continue to make a fuss of you and reap the rewards of playing the hero.” Brendon held out the painkillers and the glass of water, batting his eyelashes comically.

"My hero." Somehow I managed to remain straight faced when I said that. I looked up at Brendon from my position on the sofa. He smiled down at me, leaning over the back of the sofa to stroke my hair. I sighed and closed my eyes, relaxing into his touch.

"So. Um. Can I stay? Or do I need to change my plane ticket and be on the next flight back to LA?"

I opened my eyes.

"You idiot. I only just got you back. You're not going anywhere." I reached up and put my hand around the back of his next and tugged, pulling his face down to mine. My eyes fluttered closed as I pressed my lips to his. I kept pulling, wanting him closer. I pulled until his weight was pressed against me, falling over the back of the sofa. Brendon lost his balance and he toppled over the back and onto me. He kept rolling, pulling me over the edge of the sofa and onto the floor. I laughed as we landed, Brendon above me. He used the opportunity to deepen the kiss. His hands slid from their position on my hips, up my waist and across my back. One of his hands made its way across my shoulder and up onto my neck, then back down and very clearly onto my chest.

I pulled away.

"Hold on now, mister, all may be forgiven, but you've got a lot of making up to do before you get to cop a feel!" I exclaimed.

Brendon just laughed.

"Sorry, sweet, I got carried away. How about I make us some food?"

"Ah. Well, we'll have to go to the supermarket. I was planning to do it after I dropped Lucy off, but I was somewhat distracted."

"Well, to the supermarket it is, then!" Brendon stood up, then offered me his hand and pulled me to my feet. Then he scooped me up in his arms before I could protest.

"Your carriage awaits, m'lady!" he declared grandly as I giggled. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he carried me to the front door, where he had to put me down because he couldn't open the door.

"I'll drive." Brendon said as we reached the car. I tossed him the keys and climbed into the passenger seat.
