--Ella's Pov--

I look over myself in the mirror and pull the dress down a little. The black satin material is resting just above my knees. While the neckline plunges down for a silver necklace to rest in between, "This isn't too much?" I ask as Kelsey helps me pick out shoes. She hands me a pair she bought last Christmas.

"The restaurant he's taking you to is expensive," she says as I fix my hair stressing out. I let out a deep breath while slipping the shoes on, "You're going to have so much fun," she says wiggling her eyebrows in the mirror.

"I'm just scared there's going to be so much pressure on us," I tell her sitting on the edge of my bed, "Like what if he realizes that I'm not good enough or he prefers me as a friend?" I ask.

She stands with her hands on her hips giving me an annoyed look, "Miss girl. You're stunning and one of the best people I've ever known. If he doesn't realize how lucky he is to have you go on a date with him. He's not with it. I love Chip but he's being a nonce," she says making me laugh with a small smile. I hear my phone ringing and see it's the car that I ordered. She gives me a hug and tells me everything will be fine before I grab my purse. I shove my keys in the small clutch and then walk out the door. I ride the elevator all the way down trying to distract myself by texting Chris.

He spent almost two hours on the phone with me last night about this date. He kept making fun of Chip as I stressed out. He kept saying he was going to text Chip to tease him about it. Chris makes me feel like I'm in middle school again. I feel like if we kiss tonight he's going to pop out of a bush with a camera. On the way to the restaurant the driver and I make small talk about the weather and how the sun has been coming out more. I'm excited about warm weather but I will miss hot cocoa. When we pull outside of the restaurant I widen my eyes at the size of it. There's valet and everything else you'd expect at some fancy place. Most of the time Chip and I would go to Nandos and get chicken. I suddenly feel underdressed but I know deep down I'm not. Thank god for Kelsey. I would have worn jeans if it wasn't for her.

I take my phone out and go to text Chip when I freeze in my spot. In front of me is Chip and Cassidy getting out of his car. This wasn't a date. I'm such an idiot. I can feel the tears welling up in my eyes as I move from their sight. I run a hand through my hair as I hear my phone ringing. I quickly answer it and try not to sound as if I'm about to break down.

"Hey. Are you here yet?" Chip asks.

"I'm running a bit late. There was an emergency at the apartment," I lie not wanting to see him. How could he do this? After everything? My breathing shutters and he asks if I'm okay. I tell him I'll be there within the hour before hanging up. Before I even realize what I'm doing I'm dialing Chris's number.

"Shouldn't you be making out with Chip in a McDonald's booth?" He asks right as he answers.

I let out a choked sob making him immediately ask what was wrong, "I'm such an idiot. He brought her. I'm here on a double date thinking he wanted to spend time with me," I whisper.

"Stay where you are," he says, "I can be there in fifteen minutes. Just take some deep breaths," he tells me as I lean against the side of the building. He hangs up the phone and I look around seeing other guests staring at me like I'm crazy. I check my makeup on my phone and see mascara below my eyes. Nearly twenty minutes later I hear a car door slam and look over seeing Chris handing his keys to the valet. He sees me in the corner and jogs over. He wraps his arms around me, "I'm such an idiot," I whisper into his neck.

He pulls away keeping his hands on my shoulders. He moves them up wiping the makeup from under my eyes, "He's the idiot. He's an asshole for asking you to dinner and bringing someone else," he says.

"You look good," I tell him as he drops his hands to his side. I take a shaky breath before shaking out the nerves.

"You look beautiful. Now," he says holding his arm out, "Let's go make that prick jealous," he smirks making me smile.

"I don't know what I'd do without you," I tell him as we walk through the front door. He glances at me with a smile before talking to the hostess. She brings us to the table Chip and Cassidy is sitting at. Chip gets up looking confused when he sees Chris as my date.

"Sorry about the wait. We got distracted," Chris says pulling my seat out for me, "Didn't we," he says making me laugh.

"I hope we didn't have you waiting long," I say looking at Cassidy as she has an annoyed look hidden in her brows.

"No not at all," she says with a fake smile. I get the sense she doesn't like me. But to be fair I have been an insufferable bitch around her.

"Shall we get dessert?" Chris asks as he grabs my hand on top of the table. I can't help but smile when I see Chip's eyes lingering, "I know how much you love red velvet cake," he says turning to me.

"I'm so full but maybe we can get some later," I tell him as he smirks, "You know the place right next to the apartment. We could even invite Kelsey and Arthur," I offer.

"So...does this make you guys official?" Cassidy asks leaning on the table.

Chris looks at me waiting for my move and I just squeeze his hand, "We are having fun. Labels are so daunting," I tell her.

"You guys are cute together. I hope it works out," she says sounding genuine. The waiter comes over and hands us the check. I excuse myself to the bathroom after handing Chris my card. When I come out of the stall I see Cassidy leaning against the sink, "What's the deal with you and Chip?" She asks with her arms crossed.

"He used to be a really close friend," I tell her as I wash my hands, "Why? Feeling threatened?" I joke making her scoff.

"Absolutely not. I mean come on look at us," she says pointing to the mirror, "You're just a whore who wants what she can't have," she says with a smirk.

"Excuse me?"

"Oh come on. I heard about you and Chris in the club bathroom. It's not the classiest thing a girl can do," she says making my cheeks heat up.

"Did you also hear about Chip running after me? Got to say he's a pretty good kisser," I tell her as she brings her hand up. My head turns to the right as I cover the place she just slapped me.

"Stay in your lane or maybe I'll consider going after Chris too," she says making me freeze. Okay maybe I crossed a line but what is wrong with this bitch? Is anything ever really this serious?

When the bathroom door closes I turn to the mirror and see a bright red make appearing on my face. I walk back to the table and sit down as she smirks at me, "You alright, love?" Chris asks. I turn to look at him and he notices how red my face is but doesn't say anything, "We should really get going," I smile as the conversation dies down. Chris and I quickly say our goodbyes as he grabs his jacket off the back of the chair.

"That bitch is on crack or something," I tell him as he gets his car back from the valet.

"What's going on here?" He asks rubbing the side of my face. I wince and his eyes harden when he realizes, "What the fuck happened in that bathroom?" He asks going to walk back in. I grab his arm and pull him back but he looks genuinely worried.

"Please I don't want to make this a thing," I tell him as he bites his lip, "if she's the one he wants to be with then that's fine. I would hate myself if I fucked up their thing 'cause I wanted him," I whisper. He starts speaking before his eyes travel past my head. He leans forward pressing his lips to mine. I hum into the kiss with surprise as he pulls my lower body closer.

"Had to give them a show," he whispers as I stare at his lips breathlessly. I bite my lip as he sends me a wink before pulling away. I look to the side and smile at Cassidy as she gets into Chip's passenger seat.
