Smack!

Jungwon yelps, falling back when one of the eels' tail slaps him. Suddenly hot pain strikes the fae's right leg, skin and clothes sizzling from the acidic saliva spat on him. Jungwon cries, air leaving his lungs quickly and he's immediately slapped again.

Jungwon collides against the wall and one eel presses him against the solid stone, crushing the boy. A strike of black electricity emits from the enemy, elicting a scream from the leader. Jungwon's hands find their way on the slimy skin of the eel, two rays of light coming from his palms. They release the boy, screeching in pain. The fae recognizes the reaction, typical dark magic wielders reacting to their weakness; pure light.

Jungwon takes flight again, hovering over the paired eels. He opens his arms, two orbs of light emitting and he drags the two together, creating a large beam of light, blasting. He hears pained screeches in response. Suddenly, the fae begins to feel fatigued, wings feeling too weak to carry him anymore. The boy lands on the floor, beginning to feel sleep overcome him.

What's happening to me?!

His hands fist, eyes squeezing shut as he tries to wake up. He barely dodges another shot of acidic saliva from the eels. Unfortunately, some splashes, tattering his wings and skin. Tears sting the boy's eyes but he must get up. With an injured leg, he struggles to stand and his wings are torn.

He musters up the bearable strength to move on and fight, firing beams of light. He successively blinds both of them and hits them in their underbelly. A blind spot which leaves the eels convulsing, black electrical shocks ripping out of them in defense. As they convulse, Jungwon doesn't have any capabilities escaping from a tail which thrashes out and hits him. The harsh impact of his head colliding against a pillar, knocking out cold for a split moment.

As the eels calm down from their pain, they search for Jungwon, searching for any magic energy lingering in the room. It doesn't take long to find the unconscious boy. They encircle the boy between the paired bodies, squeezing haphazardly which earns a groan out of the fae. Black electricity emits from the paired eels, leaving Jungwon a screaming and a crying mess. The latter's fatigue is immediately erased from the pain, his entire body burning and he thinks he's going to die from the sheer pain.

He thinks back to all the memories of his life.

Am I really going to die here?

Being raised with his kin, meeting Jay, falling in love with the older, making new friends. Then he's chosen to be the leader of an alliance group, team Nexus. Then comes the day of his father's murder. Then finding Sunoo who's a great companion. Through grief, he attacks two people close who were part of his childhood; Joshua and Junhui. Now, he's suffering the painful torture by these ancient races.

He freezes when he recognizes a scream so loud and ear piercing to him and the paired eels.

Taehyun...

Jungwon shudders. Such power and confidence knowing that Taehyun must have used all of his strength, pouring his soul into the sonic scream because it has never felt this powerful and audible to pass through the thickest chambers ever. The siren proved wrongly of the supposed soundproof powers.

If his friends are fighting with all their willpower, then he's not doing enough yet.

No- I can't lose!

𖤍

Warmth sweetly touches his skin as his father hugs him in a strong embrace, kissing the crown of his son's head.

"Jungwon, you're just like your mother." The older man sighs. The small boy looks up, eyes gleaming with happiness.

"What was she like?" He asks. His father grins and lifts him up, a squeal of joy heard. The little boy is placed upon his father's shoulders, father and son looking down the hill of their town. Warm sunshine giving a warm tone to the colors of the nature and homes. Faes are flying and getting to their destinations with ease.

"She was one of Maekubia's top ten strongest warriors. Very strong, brave, and brilliant." His father explains. "She may be scary at times because of her responsibility to protect this kingdom. The other side of her was beautiful, graceful, and loving. She loved us with all of her heart." Jungwon's father says something else but it's muted.

What did he say?

He doesn't hear anything, his surrounding becoming mute until a faint ringing is heard. It gradually grows louder and louder and it becomes unbearable to his sensitive ears. The boy clamps down onto them to find some relief from the insufferable sound, eyes squeezing shut.

"I can hear the fear coming from your heart." Jungwon's eyes open in fright, recognizing that voice. When he takes in the scene of what his eyes aren't prepared for, he blanches, meeting blood-red glowing eyes.

Jungwon sees his father on the floor who's spasming in agony, his life being drained from the sheer amount of blood loss.

He shuts his eyes and covers his ears, ignoring the way his heart pulses uncontrollably, cold sweat clinging onto his skin.

"Jungwon, you're just like your mother..." He hears his father's voice echo.

"My last promise from her was to protect you with my life. She was the lightning that revived you."

𖤍

A ginormous bolt of lightning strikes down, attacking the two eels. The attack takes them by surprise, nearly equal in power makes them release Jungwon. The fae's eyes are glowing nothing but white, electricity flickering around his body.

He sees that the eels won't back down until one party is done for good despite seeing who has an upper hand in this battle. Jungwon creates two balls of electrical magic that are larger than usual.

This power is unstable, but this should do.

Jungwon combines them into one ginormous sphere of energy and blasts it with his remaining energy when he feels the fatigue simmering under his skin again. The paired eels scream in horror from the sheer energy and pain and their cries gradually fade away.

Jungwon pants, legs finally breaking in and giving in to the fatigue once he sees a mist of darkness leave the paired eels, transforming into two enormous koi fishes. One white and red and the other black and white.

I really hope these fishes don't try to eat me...

The fae's eyes grow heavy, body feeling like it's made of lead. He looks down at his injuries and realizes perhaps the acidic saliva doesn't just burn away anything it touches, but it also weakens the victim, a type of poison; but not fatal to his life.

The fae's hands are trembling out of exertion when a small glow emits from his palm, trying to heal the wound on his leg that suffered the most. He grimaces the fact it's burned from mid-thigh down to his ankle. Red, bloody, and clotting. His magic barely wields the energy to heal himself, only causing the boy to collapse unconscious.
