Let Me In

Jake wakes up feeling warm. He shifts and notices he's in a cave, dark and only a small fire pit in the center. He notices that whatever he's leaning against is warm and it feels quite comforting. He sits up with a pained groan and he's immediately pulled back into the warm embrace.

"Don't exert yourself just yet, rest some more." He recognizes Sunghoon's voice and the scent of eucalyptus.

"What happened?" He slowly asks. He sees that everyone else is sleeping. Near the entrance of the cave, Niki is standing guard. Sunoo is also beside the demon, having a quiet conversation.

"You collapsed because the silver sword in you was linked with magic to deprive your energy." The devil explains.

"We were able to heal you, take it easy for a while until we encounter Cerberus." Jake smiles and snuggles into his mate's embrace. The devil returns the gesture. Sunghoon pulls the younger's collar and sees his emblem on his lover's collarbone. Unfortunately, he'd like to look at it longer with such pride but the omega swats his hand away, shy as ever.

You'd think that it's a sin for different supernaturals to mate with one another but it's grown common over centuries from the treaty and peaceful lives amongst others.

"You're too obsessed with your mark on me." The taller shrugs, grinning.

"But you don't deny the fact that you love it as much as I do." Someone clears their throat and the couple look at Heeseung. The wizard gives them that look and they're giggling but they nod in response.

"Someone looks well and healthy already." He remarks.

"Well, with your magic and Jungwon's it's nothing but sore." The werewolf answers.

"Glad to hear it." Heeseung turns his attention to Jay and Jungwon. The couple are snuggled together, the dragon protecting his fairy in his arms. He looks peaceful this time unlike the past few nights spent together.

"No wonder he looked so... traumatized." The human whispers. The couple nod, mood souring.

Jungwon was selected as the leader of the Nexus team, no one understood any particular reasons, but he's well kept with his feelings and he's willing to bear the weight of responsibilities. With the secret revealed seems to finally let the fae sleep without much worry, knowing his friends are here to keep him strong.

"Many victims seek revenge... let's hope he doesn't fall into the darkness."

"Do you think we can ask Seokmin to manipulate his memories?" Sunghoon suddenly asks. Everyone but the sleeping couple shoot the devil an angered look.

"What are you saying?!" Jake hushes in a whisper. "You know we can never do that to him!"

Heeseung points a finger at the boy and the devil is shocked. "Never play with one's memories. You know that best as a devil." His eyes sharpen.

"I know, but..." He mutters something under his breath.

"What did he say?" Heeseung asks the vampire and werewolf.

"He hates seeing you guys in despair." Sunoo answers. The devil eyes the immortal.

"It sucks when we have three people with incredible hearing. On this team."

"Can't help it." Sunoo shrugs. He points a finger at Jake. "Your heart was pretty erratic to say the least."

Eventually, they make it to a large gate which is guarded by a ginormous two headed dog. They all stand there dumbfounded.
