The Archer ♐︎

Yeonjun gasps, disturbed by the fact an actual arrow hit him, causing him to fall from his flight, a rough landing. He winced, reaching down to pull it out of his waist, thoughts rushing through his head.

What are these made of?!

When he reaches to touch it, it shatters, magical particles touching his body, forming a magic seal on him.

His transformation turns him back into his human form, the flames disappearing. Suddenly, he seizes up, lurching forward on fours, trembling as an unbearable pain strikes his waist. "What— did you do?" Yeonjun's voice is strained, heaving. He watches as the archer grins.

"I shot you with an iron arrow that was mended with absolute sealing magic. Not the cheap stuff." He chuckles, drawing another iron arrow back on his bow. This time, there's no marking on them. "Special for supernaturals that are weak to iron, in this case, many of you." He fires and Yeonjun ducks down.

The phoenix curses under his breath, trying to figure out a way to defeat this man. Without his abilities, he's got the lower hand to win. But he won't go down without a fight.

"Fine then, I'll settle this another way." Yeonjun bites down the pain from his hip and charges at the archer. Sagittarius laughs, firing his arrows at the boy. To his dismay, Yeonjun is quick on his feet.

"Right, you still have some inhumane strength." Sagittarius mutters before switching out his arrows. He aims for the ground near Yeonjun's feet.

"You missed!" Yeonjun continues to walk forth until an explosion occurs.

KABOOM!

Yeonjun tumbles out of the smoke, groaning. He looks up and knows for a fact that this man knows what he's doing. However, Yeonjun will find a way to break through. The phoenix gets back up on his feet and runs, avoiding and speeding up with the every arrow that touches the ground, explosions heard from behind.

By the time he makes it an arm length to the zodiac, Yeonjun dives down and kicks him under from the chin. The archer stumbles back and is quick to respond with a punch, but Yeonjun catches his fist and throws another.

Sagittarius dodges it and uses his free hand to grab a iron arrow, tricking Yeonjun into thinking he was going to punch him back, so the boy's hand extends to catch an iron arrow instead; stabbed straight through. The sudden burn makes Yeonjun let go. Trying his best to pull out the arrow.

"Let's see how much you can take before my magic seal wears off—" An arrow stabs straight into the archer's eye, the man screaming in pain.

Yeonjun flicks his hand, getting rid of the excess blood that still dribbles down his fingers. "You may know what you're doing, but I don't like it when people don't play fairly, so I'll repay the gesture back." Yeonjun kicks him and watches him fall to the ground.

Suddenly, the archer's palm comes up, and the magic circle on Yeonjun's body casts an enchantment. The phoenix is trembling at the sudden sensations, and the wounds inflicted on his body hit him like a truck, collapsing and squirming in agony. "Right back at you," The zodiac says before he jumps high, hovering before he fires ten iron arrows into Yeonjun's back. Each shot drawn out and ensuring there's plentiful of pain to expect.

The phoenix shrieks and cuts off in wails, his body unable to handle the amount of iron in him, sensitivity heightened to the brink.

Through painful tears, he watches as the zodiac is mere steps away from his body. He has never endured such pain in two decades. His breath is caught in his throat when he gets flashbacks of the time he and Soobin were ambushed.

"Oh, did something happen? Why do you look like you've seen a ghost?" Sagittarius taunts, stepping onto the arrows in the boy. They shatter and break in every direction in his body, screaming his throat until it's all used up.

When the boy's voice had died down, he breathes slowly, gulping for air. His body feels heavy, his surroundings sounding so soft and fuzzy while he's succumbing to a deathly moment.

"Such a pitiful creature." He shakes his head. "And you have a blue phoenix's blood within you. Such a waste of opportunity." He scoffs. Yeonjun watches through his teary eyes as the ancient being winds up another arrow to do the final blow. "It's over."

𖤍

Yeonjun is sobbing, ashamed that he's not up to everyone's expectations. The small boy wishes he'd just be a normal phoenix so no one has to tell him that hybrids and blue phoenixes are powerful and aren't sensitive as he is.

"Yeonjun, my darling, it's okay to cry," His mother coaxes. "Being a hybrid with the blood of a blue phoenix holds a lot of standards, but we are all the same either way. We laugh, we cry, fight, and die." Yeonjun thinks about his dad, a normal phoenix while his mother is a blue phoenix. He wishes his father was here but he's been dead for two years now. It doesn't help the fact that his mother can't touch him, at least not until he's grown powerful enough to withstand her pyrokinesis. She wasn't the luckiest, unable to control the living things she touched. The best she could do was give him words of love and affirmation.

"Mama, what can I do to protect my friends?" He sniffles. "I... don't want people to bully others like me." She smiles warmly, stepping a little closer to her son.

"One day you'll find out your drive to protect and grow stronger." She says, "Train hard, but don't beat yourself up, practice also takes patience."

A mixed phoenix has the ability to create purple flames. That is only caused if they're in a position out of options. However, it's a sacrifice to be unable to fly. Most cases, death.

"We phoenixes are proud of flying and soaring proudly in the sky." His instructor says. "Don't do it unless you'll be sure you'll be able to live forward into the future." He gives a solemn smile. Yeonjun nods, pondering what it'd be like to not fly anymore until he's killed.

"You're a good kid, Yeonjun." Taehyung pats his shoulder as they walk down the streets towards home. "You have good intentions, but remember the costs and if it's the worth. Don't be reckless."

𖤍

Something in Yeonjun snaps, thinking about his family and friends. He can't lose and the desperation spikes, not backing down.

Purple flames spawns, taking the archer by surprise. The magic seal is broken, most iron arrows melting by the sheer heat. The archer himself is terrified, unaware of this capability.

"I'll never back down, even if I have to sacrifice the things I love for my friends' lives!" Tears stream down his face, eyes glowing purple as the specs of feathers reappear. The blend of red and blue specs is a majestical sight to behold.

Purple flames encompass the room, leaving the archer with no escape. He attempts to shoot the phoenix, but the silver arrow melts within an arms length. "This can't be! You wouldn't dare!"

True to his words, Yeonjun hesitates, wondering if it's worth it. He may die in the process; a fifty-fifty chance to gamble. Then again, with all of his journeys with the Chaos team, they've been friends before they even allied as a team. They always gambled their lives and here they are today. Perhaps another gamble wouldn't be too hard to take.

His thoughts are interrupted when he hears Taehyun's scream, eyes widening and heart pulsating faster, blood rushing to his ears as he thinks of the worst if he can hear the sonic scream.

Yeonjun transforms back to his phoenix form instead, the purple flames turning orange. "You're right,  because if I die here, who knows if my other friends are alive, still fighting for their lives and others." Yeonjun dodges all the arrows and flaps his wings, a huge wall of fire making its way to Sagittarius. A new technique Yeonjun had come up with a few days ago after retrieving the stone of reincarnation, but it wastes an excess amount of energy.

By the time the flames disappears, the zodiac is burned up and unconscious.

Yeonjun huffs and blacks out when the pain returns to his body after he's back in human form. All too much to handle and meddle with his mind and body.

I always wish everyone to be safe no matter what.
