In this story of chaos and mystery, watch as the pieces of the story unfold by each character as they tell there side of the events in the town of Highland.
"Thanks for your help, Mr. Connors. I really appreciate it." I get told as he shakes my hand and I smile. "It's what I do, I help people." I answer as I guide him to the door and lead him out then shut the door. I'm Glenn Connors, don't think we've ever met. If you are familiar with Highland, then you may know my former family. Carter and Shelby. Carter is my world, I wish he was here with me but he can't be. I will find a way to get Carter out of that town. I just don't know how yet.
I spend my days as a PI aka Private Investigator, I was a Sheriff's Deputy but I was relieved of my duties because I was too focus on one case at a time. If you are Police that's fine but with it being just the Sheriff and I at times I need to take on multiple cases at a time not just one but I did obsess over one case at a time so the Sheriff let me go. After that, the world of Private Investigation was opened up to me and I joined immediately. It was a process to get my license and all but I did it.
I work on one case til that one is closed and I don't stop til it's over. Like I said I'm obsessive but I care about people and I wanna help them. If I'm gonna put my life on the line when I do this job, I'm gonna make sure I do the best that I can then go above and beyond. I get everything from investigating marriages to murders. If it's a crime then you can hire me to solve it, and I put the same effort into each case.
I have an assistant to help with paper work. Her name is Valery Bryner and she's a sweetheart. She's 20 years old and loves crime work so she thought this job would be perfect for her. I'm 47 so I wanted to hire someone younger than I am for a couple of reason and no not the reasons you may think. She's young so she has energy and enthusiasm for the job and the cases. She can remember things I can't and see things from a different perspective and as a plus she can bake cookies and she brings them into the office.
She has a boyfriend that comes into the office every now and then. Nice fella. I don't think they last thought. Call it PI intuition or whatever but I've been the business of reading people for a long time. All I will say is, She's sincere at heart and he's not. I hope that I'm mistaken and he's a good guy but I think she's gonna be crying on my chest soon with her saying, "He broke up with me." I'll comfort her and she may ask me to investigate him. Honestly, I just might if it comes too that.
*** VALERY BRYNER
I sort through some of the files as a man enters the office, and I direct him to Mr. Connors' Office. I watch as he enters and then follow seconds later. "I need your help, Mr. Connors." The man says and he answers him, "Of course, what can my assistant and I do for you?" He sits down and I sit on the desk edge. "You gotta help me! You need to look into my brother I think he's gonna kill someone!" Mr. Connors eases him and calms him down.
"Relax you need to talk to me calmly. What's happening with your brother?" He starts to ease. As his assistant, I write down what they say for case purposes. "My brother has been... acting...um...really strange lately and been getting aggressive towards me and my family at weird times. He'll just switch from having a good time to being...um...all angry and yelling and he'll start throwing and breaking things. You have to help me get him back or stop him before he potentially kills someone." I see Mr. Connors take the information in, while I'm going my job.
"Sir, When is the last time you spoke to your brother and what was that conversation about?" The man starts to rub his eyes and face in a semi-paranoid way. "Last time we talked was 1 month ago, and it was about his behavior. How it's been changing and I wanted to confront him about it. It ending with us in an argument and him storming out of my house." Mr. Connors look at him intrigued, "Where is your brother now?" He looks at Mr. Connors and shakes his head.
"I don't know, that's why I need your help. I need you find him and stop him." Mr. Connors goes to the door and opens it, "Sir-" He cuts off Mr. Connors before he can say anything else. "Lance, Lance Green." He smiles at Mr. Green. "Well Mr. Green I'll do what I can to find your brother and hopefully I won't be too late." Mr. Green shakes Mr. Connors and I's hands then leaves. He turns to me, "How do you feel about all this? Also, Did you get everything written down?" I look over at him, "Yes I did, and honestly his brother sounds like he's close to hurting someone and I think we need to work quick to find his location."
"I do too, I know Mr. Green is sincere and this cases is a matter of life and death so we should work with haste." We start immediate with the details Mr. Green has give us and wondering where he could be in a month. "Is it possible that he left town?" I look over at Mr. Connors, "He's been gone for a month or less so anything is possible I'll start calling different police stations I know and possible town mayors." We need to find his brother before he can do something to harm another person.
