I think Steve learned a valuable lesson whilst we were visiting HQ, and that was that it was going to take more than some sexual promises to make me forgive him. I refused to have sex with him and made him sleep on the couch as punishment for being an ass hat, he would never learn his lesson if I just gave in and I wasn't about to do that for him. It made me laugh how he'd tried to act so dominant and then didn't even argue when I declined him and forced him onto the couch. He was such a loser. We drove back to Florida and I let him hold my hand, I was pretty sure he was learning his lesson because at least every hour he would apologise to me for how he had behaved and then give me another run down of why he had did what he did.

I had to admit, it was quite nice of him to be so persistent to try and make amends with me, I quite liked the fact that he started to bring up how he felt about us and that he just assumed because we'd started sleeping together that we had put some unspoken label on it. In all fairness if we hadn't have had the incident, I think I would have just assumed we were in some kind of weird relationship and would have also thought the same way Steve was. He hadn't actually asked me if I wanted to be in a relationship with him, so it still remained a mystery as to whether or not we were a couple outside of this bizarre fake marriage.

We got back pretty late from the road trip and went straight to bed, with Steve double checking he was actually allowed in it which had made me laugh. He spooned me but he didn't try and have sex with me, I assumed he wasn't wanting to rock the boat but also we were super tired from the drive so even if we wanted to, I would have probably fell asleep.

In a fit of rage against Steve, I'd planned a night out with Carla for when I'd got back and I just needed to have a drink and some girl time. We were going to a bar for a few cocktails and then more than likely back home since it was apparent that this town didn't have a night club, which I found super weird and if I was permanently living here, I'd totally open one up because I'd make a fortune. I know I would. I'd spent an hour or two getting ready and headed downstairs to let Steve know I was heading out and I knew I looked nice from the way his eyes bulged as I walked past him in the living room whilst he was on the couch.

"You look amazing." I smirked as I heard him practically gulp, he was clearly appreciating my little black dress.

"I'm aware." I walked up to him and leaned over, seeing his eyes momentarily dip down to my cleavage before he looked me in the eyes again, he wasn't quick enough to hide it. "Don't wait up." I gave him a quick kiss before I pulled away and he stood up and followed me into the dining room, I was about to slide open the French door to leave when he spoke.

"Wait!"

I turned to face him. "What?"

"Here." He walked right up to me and pulled out my 'M' necklace, it was on a different chain than it was before, it seemed a little shorter. He didn't give me time to ask about it before he was putting it on my neck. "Don't forget your necklace."

"Steve, where did you get this?"

"I wanted you to have this, I love you wearing it and I figured you liked wearing it too." He held the 'M' pendant for a moment, resting it over the finger tips of his index and middle finger before letting it drop onto my chest. "Perfect."

"When did you find time to get another chain for it?" I touched the pendant with my hand and then smiled as he gently grabbed my waist, letting one of his hands travel a little further south of my waistline.

"I've had that chain for years, Madd. It belonged to my mom and I've always kept it safe, it's one of the most precious things I own because she wore it every day and I've carried it in my wallet every day since she passed. I figured it could go from one important woman in my life to another." He let out a nervous laugh and I would have dropped to the floor if he wasn't holding me, I really would have.
