3.Idiot 1 and Idiot 2

As I stormed over to the table everyone was stood at, I grabbed Dazai by his shoulders and began to shout.
"Where is Ranpo?!" I demanded. I had most the people that I cared for in my life slip away. My parents.., my brother.

Sakunosuke was the only person who was there for me after our parents died. But once I let him die aswell, I just didn't know what to do with myself. I went through a period of feeling that I didn't belong. That was until Ranpo brought me into the agency. And I was not just going to let him die aswell.

"Thats what we're all trying to figure out," I heard Poe say from the other side of the table.
"Usually we would have Ranpo figure this sort of thing out. But obviously he's not here," Kunikida sighed.

I thought quietly to myself. Ranpo would usually be right behind me to fix any mistakes that I made in the investigation but it was different this time. I was alone. I had to solve this. Alone.

"What if he's just hiding? You know, to train me in investigating on my own?"
"I doubt," Dazai chipped in, "Ranpo's not patient enough to play a game of hide and seek. Speaking from experience."

I let out a long groan before the idea came to me. What if the Port Mafia took him? I couldn't think of any good reason so I decided to just keep this thought in my head. I went to lie down on the sofa to think. Thats where Tomioka came and sat by me.
"You okay?" he asked, running his fingers through my hair.
"Mm, yeah. I guess."
"You sure? You don't look okay."
"I- I have to go."

I slipped away from his hand that was placed in my hair. I walked towards the door before I was stopped short. Tomioka had grabbed onto my sleeve.
"Yamai... please don't go," He cried out.
"Why should I not? I need to."
"It's too dangerous. Y-you'll get hurt.
"Like you even know where I'm going," I scowled at him.
"The Port Mafia building. To get Ranpo. You think he was kidnapped?" He looked at my face and could see the shock in my eyes, "Am I wrong?"
"How? Just how could you know?"
"You're so oblivious Yamai," He laughed and began tapping the side of his head, "But that makes you all the lot cuter to me. Have you never wondered how I, a very non combat sort of guy, got into the detective agency but just as a receptionist?"
"No not really. I honestly just thought through an interview?"
"I mean yeah it is an interview but for me... it was still an interview but something else played a part."

I could see Tomioka smirking so whatever this was, he was quite smug about it.
"So what is it then?" I asked only slightly interested but I could tell that he very much wanted to say.
"My ability."
At first I was shocked by his reply. Shocked by the fact he even had an ability. It wasn't anything that I had asked him. I just assumed that as a receptionist, he wouldn't have one. But I was so wrong.
"It allows me to read the thoughts of others," He continued, "That, and transmit my thoughts to others or even transmit someone's thoughts to a completely different person."
"That's cool and all... but I'm still going," I quickly blurted before running out the door.

I could here Tomioka shouting my name but I didn't listen. I had slowed down once I felt I was far enough away but Tomioka came up by my side.
"You're not going without me!"
"Fine," I groaned, only because I knew how persistent he was, "But you are waiting outside."

Luckily for me, he didn't try argue against me. He just accepted the fate of waiting outside. With that, I waved to him before going in.

The whole building seemed deserted. Usually, there would be at least five people by the door to stop intruders. Then there would be even more if you got past those five. But today, there was no one. It was empty. And that was perfect for me.

I was able to walk straight through to where they would hold the kidnapped people. Sure enough, Ranpo was there.
"Yamai! What the hell are you doing here?!" He scowled at me.
"I'm saving you silly!"
"Yam-" I saw Ranpo look down at the floor before he muttered, "Yamai, look behind you."
